Summary: Unbelievable!!
Review: A completely unnecessary book. Our Town is a great play, full of complexities. But it is not written in Ancient Hibernian. It is written in good simple English. How could anyone need Cliff's Notes to understand this play? If you need these kind of notes to make sense of Our Town, you are too stupid to be reading anything at all.

Summary: American Theatre And Life At Its Best!
Review: This is a play that should be re-read every ten years or so just to put life in perspective. This play is the most performed in American history, and it should be performed even more. I always put it down asking "what happened to George for the rest of his life".

Summary: Well Balanced
Review: This book had a lot of town life experiences. While it was not interesting to us, someone who enjoys a low key story should read it. At times it can be depressing, but there are also times when you laugh out loud. Mr. Wilder has a play that acts out many simple events in human life. It was an easy read and fairly enjoyable.

Summary: Good Play!
Review: "Our Town" was a well written played. I found as though it was very easy to understand. Being a junior in highschool it was a great book to read for a report. VERY EASY!! If your looking for a book to read go for it!

Summary: Actually I rate it NO stars...
Review: I found this book near the cash register at my local bookstore. It was obviously misplaced on its way to the trash can. This play makes the writing style of "See Spot Run" look like "The Odyssey." Your money would be put to a better use.

Summary: It's About You
Review: 'Our Town' at first seems a sweet, nostalgic glimpse of a simpler, more patient time. Wilder is not this simple though. He saw the 'shadow' of Grover's Corners and how it crushed the individuality out a person, making them conform or be punished. Wilder questioned the American values that could give as much as it could take, where the town becomes more important than the individual people within it. Wilder knew firsthand how painful the price could be just to 'fit in.' This play will remain a masterpiece for every millenium, every century, every decade, every year, every week, every day, and every hour -- to paraphrase Wilder's Stage Manager.

Summary: A Great Play
Review: All of "Our Town" is wonderful. The lack of scenery allows the reader (or viewer) to use his imagination. All of the relationships are authentic. The last act is just masterful.

Summary: The writer know people
Review: Each time I see Our Town, or read it, I'm amazed at how Wilder nailed every relationship. consider Emily who sits down voluntarily to help her mom and to talk about what she has accomplished in school. She asks if she's snapping the beans correctly, "A little smaller," is all her mom can muster. How like moms of teenagers to set impossible marks for their chlldren. Mr. Wilder sensed how people interelate. Those relationships are universal, which is why his play will never go out of date.

Summary: This play has changed my life
Review: I consider Our Town to be the greatest play ever written, and the third act in particular to be one of the finest pieces of writing in existence. This play has made me a better person.

Summary: A timeless work that touches the soul...
Review: Thornton Wilder has provided us with a real treasure in the play "Our Town". This extremely quick read makes you realize all that you are taking for granted in your life. The dialogue is beautifully crafted, yet natural, and the descriptive details make the town of Grover's Corners come alive in your mind. This book is a MUST-READ for anyone!
