Summary: There is never a dull moment in this read
Review: A great start, a decent middle and a fantastic ending. The story begins with Sam the mystery man (several aliases and identities) in semi-retirement sailing his yacht in British Columbia. He spies a woman running along a cliff and watches helplessly as the ground gives way and she falls into the water. She is in a major current and being sucked into something called an Overfall. You don't want to be sucked into one of these babies unless you're ok with being buried under a big wave and sucked into a giant whirlpool. Sam has a choice: he can either try to pull the babe off a rock in the middle of the current and run his treasured yacht through the Overfall or he can watch her drown. Sam being the kind of guy that he is...well I'm sure you get the idea. Anna is on the rock and when he grabs her they begin their great adventure with a ride through the Overfall. Dun executes the beginning flawlessly and continues on with a great story with one burning mystery after another. It's a great read. You'll like it if you like action adventure thrillers. And I would say that a lot of thought went into this plot, the characters and all of their amusing foibles. It seems that all the big players in the story have some form of attachment disorder and most of them are seen reading a book entitled: "Where Did He Go Where Did She Go?" and we are given to understand that Sam's bachelorhood might not be a coincidence. But Dun does not allow Sam the sort of pain free antiseptic love life of say a James Bond.

Summary: A Must Read
Review: Another great book - I couldn't put it down. I thought it was wonderful the way Dun made Sam a Tilok descendent since I loved the Tilok proverbs in "Necessary Evil." If you like adventure and romance, you definitely should read this book. Five Stars!

Summary: loads of intrigue and action
Review: Boy meets girl in the middle of an exciting rescue that is probably one of the best passages in the book. I had never heard an Overfall before I read the book. There is loads of intrigue and action when Sam and Anna set off to figure out what kind of a mental cloud has come over her brother and how it is that he seems to have fallen under the influence of his corporate handlers. Jason Anna's brother is a brilliant mathematician with some mental quirks. The book gets a little high tech in explaining the brain stuff but aside from that is a cool roller coaster ride. You can't go wrong for seven bucks.

Summary: topnotch adventure!
Review: David Dun has done it again! In his third thrilling adventure, Sam Wintripp is a man trying to retire from a turbulent life of secret service. Sailing his yacht along the Inside Passage on the coast of British Columbia, he watches a woman running along the edge of an island. Then he sees someone following her. When the woman tumbles down the cliff into the maelstrom ahead, he must decide if he can rescue her, & the chase is on.

From Canada to Manhattan to Hollywood & clear across the Pacific Ocean, Sam & Anna Wade pursue & are pursued in a grand & complicated search for Anna's brilliant & psychotic brother & his wayward daughter.

Complete with betrayals & promises, hate & love & some devious twists & turns, the corruption of power & the passion for good make battle with strange sciences, massive computers & life-altering chemicals.

David Dun's descriptions of the land are always riveting, his people are both mysterious & banal, his research impeccable & his plots, while a tad heavy on the science, are taut & enticing. I am thrilled Sam will be returning in THE LAST CLIMB.

Summary: Another Great Book From Dun!
Review: David Dun has done it again, crafting an exciting thriller with well-developed characters and a keep-you-reading plot. I highly recommend this book, as well as Dun's earlier thrillers, "Necessary Evil" and "At the Edge." Dun promises to be a prolific force in the fiction/thriller genre!

Summary: This is one of those thrillers that you can¿t put down...
Review: Dun's formula is a little different than the norm and that helps. It's not the same old International conspiracy nor is it a typical who-done-it. The romance is great, well developed, as is the female character Anna. Sam is an expert in corporate espionage and terrorism and works free lance. Dun does this in a convincing way that seems novel although there are some parallel ideas floating around in other books. But it is fresh when Dun does it and he makes you believe that a guy might just have a business like Sam's. When we meet Sam he suffering from old wounds and is in semi-retirement. That part isn't original but the way Sam comes out of retirement is very well done. Although I haven't read his other books I understand that Dun is the master of the chase and he certainly proves it in this very fun thriller. I give it the highest rating because the total package really entertains.

Summary: A great read for action fans
Review: Enough different goodies to take it out of the usual hum drum. Loved the characters and the plot, which is rare. There were a few over the top moments but I ignored them because it was a fun read. Dun obviously doesn't know how fast a Porsche accelerates. Either that or Sam is joking when he makes the comment. Not sure which. If it wasn't a joke somebody should read a Porsche manual. Dun was a little obvious in setting up the sequel. But oh well, I can hardly wait to read it.

Summary: Fast Moving!
Review: Give this one a try if you like thrillers. It's a go fast book about an unlikely duo, Sam and Anna trying to solve an unlikely problem. You do have to suspend belief a little bit now and then but that's what these books are for. The writing is pretty fair and the fresh plot ideas are good. The way Dun puts the book together keeps you guessing and keeps you reading. In this book that bad guys are a real trip and a story unto themselves. If you want high brow fiction don't read it. If you want a traditional mystery don't read it. Otherwise you'll find that you're glad you did.

Summary: Loved it!
Review: I loved Overfall because of the chemistry between Sam and Anna and the repartee as well as the fast moving plot. It was original, imaginative and kept me guessing all the way to the end. Anna as a celebrity was realistically portrayed and amazingly wasn't boring. Dun did a good job of making her touchable and of enabling the reader to see her life before she became famous. We could therefore be somewhat empathetic. It's hard to give highly successful people a touch of humanity and he succeeds. Sam is interesting because of his life style, his profession and his aloofness which makes Anna's conniving and plotting to romantically ensnare him a fascinating little sub-plot. The evil guys and gals are very well-done and a story unto themselves. All in all Dun has written a sophisticated entertaining thriller with just the right amount of everything for me.

Summary: I really got hooked
Review: I read this book in one sitting and it was as good as any in it's genre that I have recently come across. If you want somebody new that doesn't quite dish out the same old thing I would give Overfall a try. For the first fifty pages or so I wasn't quite sure what to think but then I really got hooked and couldn't put it down even when I was laughing a bit at some of the more outrageous plot twists. In all books of this genre you have to use a little imagination and you have to make sure you don't think to hard. This is a very good read for a brain dead afternoon.
