Summary: Moving and inspirational
Review: I finished this book in one sitting. I was moved to tears at times and could almost hear the voices of my own family and my own past as I read the story of Kate and her family. This book was in my hands at exactly the time when I needed a reminder of what is important in life--a little like Grandma Rose's book appearing to Kate at the precise moments. This story made me want to drive to the fictitious farm and meet Grandma myself. It made me wish I had known my own deceased grandmothers more. It made me want to put the book aside and call everyone who ever meant something to me. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good story, real characters, beautiful writing and a little inspiration for their own life. Kudos to Lisa Wingate for such a wonderful and moving novel.

Summary: A breath of fresh air!
Review: Tending Roses was such a breath of fresh air! The characters are real, the situations are not overly dramatic, or sensationlized. This book is about the life journey, real, tender, thoughtful. I loved every page, from the first to the last. I appreciated the beautiful flow of the words, and the astonishing power of the message. It is so wonderful to read a book that celebrates the values of family and community. It touched every corner of my heart. I first saw this book recommended on one of the Oprah chat boards. I wish Oprah would look at this book for her show. It is the kind of book that would speak to almost anyone. Enjoy the journey!

Summary: Best Book I ever read !!!!
Review: I just finished reading this extraordinary book----I am now planning to purchase a copy for each of my sisters, nieces, daughter-in-law, and my mom. Reading the book makes you realize what matters in this journey of life we are all on...it was so well written and touched on every emotion--and when I read the last page I had tears in my eyes and a smile on my face. A MUST READ !!!!

Summary: The meaning behind this book is wonderful
Review: The meaning behind the story is absolutely wonderful.....put your family first, forgiveness, slow down and smell the roses, etc. The only reason that I didn't give it a 5 instead of a 4 is because I thought it started out much too slow, it didn't grip me for awhile. I wouldn't have kept with it without the support of such positive reviews from others who have read it. Even though it started out slow, it turned out to be a beautiful story. I would definitely recommend this book.

Summary: My most profound read this summer by far!!!
Review: This book is not to be missed! This summer, while healing up from surgery, I read quite a few books trying to lift my spirits and keep from feeling housebound. Among those I read were Tuesdays With Morrie and The Prayer of Jabez, both of which have had tons of media attention, and both of which are good books.

By far the most profound and uplifting book I read this summer, however, was Tending Roses. If you want something really beautiful, where and old person teaches a young person what truly matters at the end of life, read Tending Roses. I can not begin to describe it to you, except to say, read it yourself. You won't be disappointed. Ms. Wingate, wherever you are-- Thank You and Grandma Rose for taking me away from my troubles!

Summary: The best book I've read in a long time!
Review: This is a great book about what really matters in life. It's a wonderful story that is touching without being sappy and feel-good without being predictable. The author had a lot to say about how we live and the choices we make. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Thank you, Ms. Wingate, for your Grandma Rose. She reminded me a great deal of my Grandma Wallace.

Summary: Don't Miss This One!!
Review: This book really touched me. It's very thought provoking and beautifully written. It gets you to think about what's really important in life. It's sweet and funny, but it's not sugary sweet! The characters are real and down-to-earth. I eagerly await Ms. Wingate's next book.

Summary: Thank you Grandma Rose
Review: What drew me to this story was the fact that my Mom is a Nana Rose, and what was amazing to me was I could picture the lessons that "Grandma" Rose was trying to teach her grand daughter coming from my mother to my daughter some day in the future. We take so much of life for granted, and when it's coming to an end, we often look back to see all the things we could/should have done differently. For the beauty and simplicity of the stories by Grandma alone, this book is worth the read, if you have an elderly grandparent, like I do, it is a nice reminder that they were once young & full of life, and that the important things they NEVER forget. A truly touching story.

Enjoy :)

Summary: Yes! The year's two best books!
Review: Yes! The newspaper was right! Tending Roses by Lisa Wingate and Cane River by Lalita Tademy are the summer's two best reads! Both books were outstanding-- two of the best I have ever read. The language in Tending Roses is beautiful, and the characers will stay with you forever. I don't even have words to express what this book meant to me. I can not imagine why I only heard about it in our local paper and not on Oprah. It is a fantastic book, filled with touching moments and wonderful life lessons. My copy won't be showing up for sale used! I am keeping it forever. Read Tending Roses and Cane River! I want to shout it from the mountaintops!

Summary: Husband and I Both Loved It! Great book to share with famil
Review: This is a wonderful story! My husband saw me laughing and crying as I read it, and he picked up the book and started on it. We fought over it until we both finished, and we have been telling everyone to read it. Tending Roses is a wonderful story about a family that has let petty things and busy schedules separate them. When they are forced to come to the family farm to decide whether to put their elderly grandmother in a nursing home, it is the family that learns a lesson. Through the wonderful stories in Grandma Rose's journal, the younger generation learn the real value of love, forgiveness, family, and time spent well. After reading the book, I feel like I learned right along with the characters! It was an amazing experience, and I highly recommend it as a book to share with friends and family. I am going to share it with my reading group.
