Summary: rich, self-centered, privileged female whining
Review: This book was just awful! I am amazed that such drivel is published and sells...and that there must be so many rich whining woman out there that think this is important stuff. The author's description of the main character's life is bad enough; but her solution is even worse. She is going to return to her husband and spend all their accumulated wealth building a (multi-million dollar) home on the ocean. This book is a celebration of selfish, vane, wealthy women.

Summary: A Pull on my heart!
Review: This book took my heart and soul for a MUCH NEEDED ride! It quenched a deep thirst for being understood as a human being. I think this book has a message for EVERY woman at any stage of life. I read the book in one sitting, waiting for a ride, and when I looked up from it,my husband came to pick up a calmer,wiser,less-lonely me. I recommend this book for every woman who's ever felt misunderstood, bored, alone.

Summary: A must read for any woman!
Review: For any woman who wants more out of life; feels trapped in the present; or who is sick of the monotony- you must read this book!!!

Summary: A Deeply moving, personal book
Review: I bought this book to read during my lunch hours at work. I must say there are probably several waitresses in town wondering about the lady who looks up at them with tear-filled eyes when she orders her meal. There were moments in Pull of the Moon, simple, human moments, that made me weep just from the exquisite recognition that we are all connected emotionally, in spite of time and distance and lifestyle.

Summary: A good read, touching and simply written.
Review: This was book about taking the time to connect with people. It can serve as a reminder that we don't need to go far from home to make that connection, just be willing to "step out of the box" and talk with people that you don't ordinarily open up to. I would recommend it to any woman regardless of age, reading it before menopause might soften a few edges if you read closely.

Summary: One Woman's quest to face her fears
Review: I haven't hit "midlife" yet, but I could recognize myself and many women I know in the pages of this book. How sad that we let our fears stand in the way of our relationships. How sad that we lose ourselves in the hope of gaining others, and end up losing them too. Nan explored her thoughts wishes and dreams in her journal and in her letters to her husband; and while her dreams may not be mine, it was a helpful reminder to pay attention, and to take responsibility for my own happiness. How much easier (and ultimately disappointing) to look to a man to make us feel happy and important, when the answer really is in us

Summary: Womens' Midlife Questions Explored
Review: I was captivated by this book because it echoed many of the thoughts and concerns I'm having right now. Oh for the time and money to take off and find my own answers and my own self! But I will read this book again and again and know I'm not going crazy and that peace can be found

Summary: An idea that started with a journal
Review: Not only is Elizabeth Berg an amazing writer, as evidenced by this book, but she is an amazing woman as well. When she spoke to my writing class at Harvard in early 1996, she explained that the genesis of the idea for Pull of the Moon came from a turquoise-colored journal that she bought in a Boston-area store. She decided her next book would be written in the form of journal entries made by a woman having second thoughts about the path of her life. The result is a compelling and touching journey of discovery through the perspective the trip affords her. Absolutely sublime in the writing. You simply must read Pull of the Moon.

Summary: I felt like she'd opened up my life and read me!
Review: Required accessories for reading this book: a box of kleenex and an entire day to yourself. I laughed - I cried - I couldn't put it down. What Nan went through was so similar to my own experiences that it is as if Elizabeth has looked into my life and written about me. Unfortunately I'm not rich like Nan, but I've always wanted to take a journey of discovery. Many women will recognize themselves in this book - a universal experience
