Rating: Summary: Couldnt put it down Review: This was a wonderful book, it was really hard to put it down. I could relate to just about every character, in some way, shape, form, or fashion. I felt like I really knew Caitlin, and Victoria. I have to say, however, I was a little disappointed with the ending. It just seemed too abrupt.
Rating: Summary: This brought back memories.... Review: This was an easy to read book which kept my attention throughout. It did make me laugh and cry & brought back memories of reading Judy Blume's books as a teenager. It's light reading, but certainly worth the effort!
Rating: Summary: I loved this book! Review: Summer Sisters a story any girl can appriciate. I finished in a day. It sucks you in and leaves you thinking about it for days. I had to call my best friend and cry when I finished. Needless to say she called me crying the next day when she finished it!
Rating: Summary: Pleasant enough Review: I wanted to see if Judy Blume could translate her light, fluffy young-adult writing into anything more mature, so I picked up a copy of Summer Sisters and found absolutely nothing new. This book has the same tone, pacing, sparse description and adolescent use of language as her young adult works: the only things added seem to be length and a couple of steamy sex scenes. In the book's favor are its easy reading, quick pace, and the accessibility of its characters. All in all, pleasant enough, but like cotton candy: quickly gone and completely unmemorable.
Rating: Summary: all around "OK" Review: I also read this book in two days. It was hard to put down, but after I finished the book, I didn't seem to have gained anything from it. There was really no plot, I just kept waiting for something to happen. A story about two kids who grow up together on Martha's Vineyard?... It was all around OK, but I wound not rate it #1.
Rating: Summary: Instantly Forgettable! Review: I am absolutely amazed at all the 3, 4, and 5-star reviews!! They CANNOT have been written by anybody over 15. (Although even at 15, I certainly would have recognized this book as banal tripe.) Maybe all the good reviews were written by people who recently came out of a coma. I guess anything would seem good then!Granted, I DID read this book in a little over four hours, but that DOESN'T mean it was good! The characters (and I use that word lightly) were all cardboard and utterly SIMPLISTIC! Some of the events and dialogue were embarrassingly bad and laughably ridiculous. (Have you or anyone you've ever known ever counted the PUBIC HAIRS on your best friend?!?!? Give me a break!!) Just because a book has adult subject matter does NOT make it adult. It's completely juvenile and completely forgettable once the last page is turned. For anybody who wants to read REAL books with REAL writing about best friends -- try LAMENT FOR A SILVER-EYED WOMAN by Mary-Ann Tirone Smith, EMMA WHO SAVED MY LIFE by Wilton Barnhardt, FRIED GREEN TOMATOES by Fannie Flagg, or A PRAYER FOR OWEN MEANY by John Irving.
Rating: Summary: Great Book, Couldn't put it down!! Review: This is the first time in a long time I was able to read a book in two days. I just couldn't put it down. I wanted to just lock myself in my room and read it. I read Judy Blume when I was younger and was very excited to have the chance to read her as an adult. I was drawn into the story like I was there with Vix and Caitlin, like I was their best friend too. To all the readers who didn't enjoy this book, I am truly sorry. I thought it was just amazing!!
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully written!!! Review: I thought this book was great, finished it in less than 24 hours. I would definatly reccomend it to my friends and it proves that Judy Blume can do it all.
Rating: Summary: The continuation of FOREVER, and is a book for teenagers. Review: I read this book because as a teenager I read all of the JudyBlume books and I loved them. As an adult I thought, this book saysfor adult readers and it must be equally interesting, but with adult content. Well, I was really dissapointed when I read the book and I felt like a teenager, its content was more for young adults than for adults. The sex scenes in the book are very inmature and childish, and the language overall was not challenging. I think Judy Blume is still a Teenager writer and should not make books for adults unless she matures the language and content of the story.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book for teenagers Review: This book was so awesome! I'm a teenager and I read it in one day. It isn't a slowmoving book; it keeps your attention.
