Summary: Absolutly amazing
Review: I just can't say enough...I believe that i have recomended this book to every girl that i have run across since i first picked it up....And the funny thing is that i stumbled upon it at the book store...Litereally, there was a stack of them on the floor and i tripped, and bought the book. The characters were so realistic, and true to the heart. And never before have i been so captured by an ending. This book takes womanhood: discovering it, experiencing it, and holding it dear, puts it in a capsule for us all to admire. And even the stuff that some of us thought we were the only one's who ever had that piece... She lets us know that that isn't as true as we may have thought.

Summary: When do we get to the meat of the story?
Review: This is the first story of Judy Blume's that I have read. I really felt silly for reading this book as an adult because of the simplistic way it's written. It is more suitable for teenagers. This is one that I won't be sharing with my friends. I'll let my 12 year old read it when she's 16.

Summary: Forever...
Review: Forever... was a really really good book. It is definatly one of my personal favorites. I have read all of her books and they are all great. She really tells girls (and guys, reffering to Then again, maybe I wont) what they are going through. I myself am 13 and Judy has definatly told me I'm not alone, there are many other people with the same problem. Lots of girls feel embarrased to talk to their mom or dad about these kind of things or they feel like their the only one who does this or something like that. With Judy's books you get the info. you need on you and know your not alone. Other authors don't go near those subjects and most parents make up a bunch of crap about storks or just say you'll find out when your older. If you want the truth go to her books. Oh yeah and this book is really interesting and it is about two teenagers and it might seem gross to some but I mean its just the facts of life or err.. something.

Summary: Adolescent yes, but charming and exotic
Review: This book is not for the stiff, strictly conservative, stuffedshirt kind of woman who can't get beyond her own imagination. Thisbook is a great story with a surprising ending. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It spoke of the kind of friendship I only dreamed of having as a girl and teenager and woman. It has an air of adolescence to it, but that is part of what the girls go through to become women.

Summary: A celebration of lies, manipulation and irresponsibility
Review: I have no idea WHY. I don't know Why I have read this book more than once. It's one thing to have a manipulating friend when you're 12. When you're adults and she's still lying to you and marrying your ex-lover, it's time to throw in the towel.

Vix is a person so grateful, she's become a doormat to Caitlin. Caitlin can do anything and it doesn't matter. Who cares if Caitlin is a selfish brat who cares only about herself? Certainly not Vix. I failed to understand their friendship, which borders on abusive and codependent.

Summary: If you loved Judy Blume growing up, you'll love this one!
Review: This book was exactly what I hoped it would be. I loved Judy Blume as a 10-12 year old and I've read all her books for "Adults." I have a friendship that reminded me of Vix and Caitlain's, so this novel really hit home for me. Friendships like this are important, even if they are sometimes painful. Blume portrayed the way young girls often betray the ones they love the most quite vividly. Sometimes these friendships end up stronger for it. It's up to the individual reader to decide if Cait and Vix's did.

Summary: Captivating and addictive; but no less, a teenage book
Review: Yes, there is a ton of sex in this book and many other things, but minus all of that, and you've got a teen novel. It's as simple as that. The style that it was written in and the way the plot was laid out, you can tell that she might have been slipping into a "Dear God" moment. Maybe that is why the more mature audiences do not have wonderful things to say about this book! In short, if you expect to come out of a 400 page book with something to apply to your own life, don't waste your time because you won't.

Summary: Disappointing read from a cutting-edge author
Review: I studied Blume's works 20+ years ago in an graduate course and am disappointed that she seems to have sunk to the level of the common denominator for adolescent/young adult literature. I found no magic at all in Summer Sisters and worse, could feel the reach for it. Maybe it's because I am middle aged but I found it not only predictable but stereotypical. The fact that the ending was so unpredictable contrasted starkly with the rest of the book.

Summary: Surprisingly un-captivating for a Judy Blume book
Review: As a big Judy Blume fan, I was extremely disappointed with "Summer Sisters". Not a single one of the characters was likeable, nor even captivating in my opinion, which made me steer toward finding the book quite bland, choppy, and though a fast read, it was in a way, "un-readable." The strange childhood customs such as igniting the "power" were way too unrealistic and none of us girls i'm sure can actually relate to much of what the went through in life. Honestly, how can 15 or so summers of their life be compacted into this short novel and be interesting and captivating? Get my point? Stick to "Are you there God.." or "Deenie".

Summary: "Summer Sisters" is a wonderfully written book!
Review: This book depicts the wonderful concept of friendship between two girls in a wonderfully artistic and imaginitive way. I haven't read a book as exquisite as this one in a long time. I absolutely loved it.
