Summary: The Tom Clancy of Firesticks
Review: It could be persuasively argued that Stephen Hunter is the Tom Clancy of the gun culture- His novels don't read so much as novels as technical manuals. It's true that POINT OF IMPACT is a solid, gripping novel that should've been made into a motion picture long ago, but the plain fact is, in this technology-driven day and age, where authenticity is the key to success, Stephen Hunter veers dangerously into the realm of fantasy. Reading the exploits of Bob Lee Swagger (Swagger?!), a thoroughly unlikable man who outwits local police, state police, the FBI, and a shadowy outfit that specializes in assassinations, one is reminded of James Fenimore Cooper, whose own Leatherstocking was the victim of Twain's infamous dismembering. In POINT OF IMPACT, Bob Lee Swagger and his colleagues drop people from 1500 yards, almost a mile, seemingly without the aid of mil dots, a revolutionary invention that's used in conjunction with a scope and greatly aids the sniper in establ! ishing range and tabulating drops and spirals for those who know their ballistics tables. Yet, Swagger and his rivals down their targets with almost superhuman prescience and body control. In real life, snipers just aren't this good. However, judged as straight fiction, it's to Mr. Hunter's credit that he makes the outrageous plausible and crafts a good tale. I can't wait to read TIME TO HUNT.

Review: Bob Lee Swagger is the epitome of the American Vietnam sniper. The first page starts the action and it continues to rivet the reader to the very last page. After thirty years of reading for personal entertainment, I set this book at the top of my list of all time greats. Bob Lee is the kind of hero everyone wants to be. You are lead through the world of weapons and munitions by a master story teller, who truly knows his facts. There are enough twists and turns to keep the best "in house" detectives looking for answers.

Review: I read 2-3 books a week.....this book is a must...finally after all these years....I can say something is a must...If you want to read a tremendous book....the first of a 3 part trilogy, then Point of Impact is the book to read.

Review: I see that this is going to get lost among all the other 10's and glowing reviews, but I have to say it anyway. Hopefully Mr. Hunter looks over these every now and again for encouragement, and I want nothing more than to provide it. This is simply the best, by a long shot, suspense/action/thriller I have ever read. Ever. Mr. Hunter, I eagerly await your next book. I finally found and read all the others, I need more!

Review: I'm the type of reader that only read books that are recommend very highly by Amazon critics. So when I came upon this book it got my attention because so many people gave it a nine or a ten. Therefore, I'm expecting a great read and you know what the critics were right. This is the best written book I have read in a while, other author should take a class in writing prose like Mr. Hunter. Because he is so good at painting picture in the readers head. Great job Mr. Hunter and am looking forward to reading more of your work.

Review: I have never owned a gun, know nothing about guns and picked this book up on a whim. Since then I've talked to gun people, this book is the real thing! Bob the Nailer is based on a real person...if someone could give me that name I would appreciate it. BTW, read this book!
