Summary: Great and Greater
Review: Where else are you going to find such a compact bundle of incredible writing? Two stellar pieces of writing in one small book.

Like his close friend S.J. Perelman, Nathanael West was the kind of writer who meticulously crafted each sentence, deliberating over each word. And it shows. The writing in "Day of the Locust" is sharp, precise and approaches perfection. The main difference between Perelman and West is that in his writing, West really delves into the darker side of life, with incredible results.

"The Great Gatsby" and "Day of the Locust" are two of the greatest books to ever grapple with (and profoundly answer) the question: "What is America all about?"
