Rating: Summary: Poetry of the Ages Review: You might want to read Richard Bucke's Cosmic Consciousness to more fully grasp the spiritual significance of Leaves of Grass. Bucke was a friend and contemporary of Whitman who placed him in the same league as the Christ, the Buddha, and other spiritual giants. Unfortunately, we seem more interested in Whitman's purported homosexuality than in the profundity of his life and work. Every line in Leaves of Grass has a deeper, spiritual meaning, and the careful reader can discover a New World waiting within its pages.
