Summary: The Client
Review: In the fiction novel "The Client," By John Grisham, the protagoist, eleven- year-old mark Sway witnesses the bizarre suicide of a New Orleans attorney as the novel opens. Just as he dies, the lawyer tells mark of a deadly secet concerning the recent murder of a Louisiana Senator, whose accused killer, Mafia thug Barry Muldanno is about to go to trial. The police, the federal prosecutor, and the FBI pressure Mark to tell them the attorney's last words, but he knows that with the mob watching his every move, revealing his secret will surely get him killed.
Therefore Mark, streetwise beyond his years, hires a lawyer: Reggie Love, whose been through more than anyone could imagine and survived. When Mark's life is threatened, and Reggie discovers her office has been "bugged," the Juvenile Court says Mark has no choice but to talk. She realizes that this time she's in way over her head. Then Mark comes up with a plan.
Mark Sway is an eleven year old genious, who is also quite foolish. This contrast of character keeps an excellent flow of the plot. John Grisham does an excellent job on Mark's character, as well as Foltrigg, the opposing stuckup, U.S. prosecuting attorney. Engoseed in his job, he really helps display the infamous view of lying, cheating and sneaky lawyers, which we all hate, yet Grisham makes it seem like he if jus ttrying to do his job.
Finally, this book was very suspenseful. One thing after another occoured, which was exciting. Although Grisham had a rushed ending it seemed. The ending could have been much better.It leaves us guessing at the fate of Mark. Some readers may enjoy this concept, while I would have liked a better ending to this action packed thriller. Overall, "The Client" was a rush.

Summary: Great Book
Review: This is my fifth Grisham book I have read and it has to be one of my favorite. Starts out with a suicide and follows a young kid through all the twist and turns of a murder. You see how a kid handles knowing something he shouldn't know and being pressured by the FBI to tell and being threatened by the Mafia to stay quiet. At the end is the classic John Grisham action part followed by a cliffhanger ending that leaves you to wonder what happened to Mark Sway. All over it is a great book that I would recommend to any people that enjoy legal thrillers.

Summary: So-So- nothing to write home about
Review: This book had an explosive start and then fizzled out. I was hoping for a big, unpredictable ending but the ending was no surprise. Several aspects of the story are left unfinished at the end and I was hoping more details about what happened to some of the other people would be presented. The story takes so long (566 pages) just to get to the end, and then it all gets wrapped up too fast. I've read 4 other grisham books and I put this one ranked #4 out of the 5 I read. (#1 A Time to Kill, #2 the Firm, #3 The Partner, #4 Client, #5 The Testament)

Review: I made a huge mistake by seeing the movie before reading the book i didn't even know there was a book because i don't pay any attention. The book was fantasica`. I really could realat to one of the carctors called Mark Sway.
I takes place in a town called Memphis. Mark Sway is a child who is tralor trash (parden the spelling) He goes into the woods with his brother to smoke, and sees someone try to commit suicde and witness it and finds out other info that the cops need but Mark is scared so he wont tell and hires a lawyer and her name is Reggie Love. She had a hard life!!! And to find out more READ THE BOOK!!!
This book dragged on about every three chapters but while not being boring it was page turning. I also made another mistake i skiped the boring parts well about 7 chapters later i missed something back in the chapers i skipped so i read it all over again. Well John Grishem Made me read more of his books and also made me want to be a lawyer when i grow up. Well that was the first Grishem book i have read and i WONT be the last! I reacemed other John Grishem books and PEarl Harbor the Movie and the Moment if you didn't like the movie you'll still like this!!!Parrden all the spelling mistake spelling was never my best subject. Review: This book was the first book I've read by John Grisham. The plot is how this kid named Mark Sway finds "Romey" a lawyer, trying to commit sucide. "Romey" tells him all about Barry the Blade, and how Barry killed a senator and where he buried him. Then the cops find out Mark knows where the body was buried. Mark gets scared and he hires a lawyer named Reggie Love. I liked this book, you should read it too.

Review: I'd actually give it 4.5 stars. The Client is, overall, an excellent book. Although it does drag in places and some of the "lawyer jargon" can get annoying, the characterization and plot are quite extrodinary. It is a very suspenseful and unpredictble novel which kept me up till 4 am reading. What makes the book so good is the complex charcters. Mark Sway--an eleven year old, trailor-trash, kid is brilliant and foolish all at the same time which keeps the book moving well because every time he gets himself out of a situation, he always manages to get himself into another. He talks like hes 45 and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. He also questions alot about society and the legal system in such a childlike matter that it really makes you stop and think about your position on the topic and what you would tell an 11 year old kid. Reggie Love is definitely the most complex character. After a painful divorce, attempted suicide, and commitment into various mental facilities, she begins a new life as a smart-talking, witty, clever, and absolutely crazy lawyer who you just have to love. They call it her "second life" and she lives it to it's fullest. Only a 4 year lawyer and shes able to outsmart the FBI. She cares so much, too much, about her "little clients" and although she denies it, is willing to risk her life for some of them. Shes a very strong character, but still very vulnerable, which makes for a great story. Foltrigg (sp?), is the opposing, big-headed, stuck up, U.S. prosecuting attorney who is absolutely determined to win the case no matter the extremes. Completely engrossed in his job, he really helps display the infamous view of the lying, cheating, snake-like lawyers which we all hate so dearly, yet, Grisham also makes it seem like he is just trying to do his job. The plot, which is outlined in every other review, therefore pointless for me to elaborate :), is eigther full-blown action, or boring, drag along lawyer stuff and mob talk. Basically, at some parts you can't put the book down and then at others you are just waiting in agony for something exciting to happen, but its well worth the wait. Overall--I'd only read it if you have a lot of time becasue you might not be able to put it down. Then rent the movie. Then join a antismoking organization---read the book and youll know why :)

Summary: Typical Grisham
Review: This book marks the cookie cutter style that Grisham has fallen into. Innocent and good heroes, real mean bad guys, and a happy ending.Mark Sway knows a secret. He heard it from a dead man. The bad guys want him to take the secret to his grave, maybe with their help. The plot hurries along, the tension growing and then: Boom. Grisham ties it all together and sends the hero away to a new life in just a few pages. It is almost like he had a pre-set page limit and did not want to run over, so he just ends the book. If the ending would have been done a little better, this could have been more than just typical Grisham.

Review: This book opens out with a great first chapter. 11 year old Mark and his brother Ricky witness the suicide of a New Oreleans lawyer. The attorney has cracked up and tells Mark where the body of murdered senator Boyd Boyette is. The client of the attorney is Barry "The Blade" Muldanno, a Mafia guy. With the FBI pressuring him to talk, and Mark fearing for his family's lives, enter 52 year old divorcee Reggie Love. Love is an attorney for abused children. She becomes Mark's lawyer. Mark is afraid to talk, and is sent to a Juveinille Dentention Center for obstruction of justice.Then Mark concocts a plan that is a shot in the dark, but it is their only hope.
