Rating: Summary: Niiiice Review: This book was released in the aftermath of the much acclaimed 'Looking for Alibrandi', I think, and is pretty much in the same vein. I actually like it better. Elizabeth is a more likeable heroine than Josie, and although Melina Marchetta's book tends to be more serious, I think they both deal with some pretty heavy issues. The format, a series of letters and notes, is unusual and effective and the reader gains a view of 'between the lines'! Unfortunately, the book doesn't bear re-reading too often. If you read it more than three times in a month, the tone becomes self-pitying and Celia almost unbearable. But it's a fantastic book for teens and adults. Funny, sensitive and not too heavy handed. Congratulation Jaclyn Moriarty. You've written a staple of my, and others' bookshelves.
Rating: Summary: A great book Review: It is written in the form of letters-gives the feeling of reading someones diary. Elizabeth is the main character and Celia is her friend that has ran off to the circus??? but the real good part of the book is when Elizabeth tries to figure out who the guy that like her is... also this book is very very very ironic- which i absolutely luv!!!... EVERYONE will enjoy this entertaining quick-read!
Rating: Summary: Feeling sorry...if you don't read this! Review: This book is great! Since it is written in the form of letters it moves quick and stays interesting. It kept my interest and I found myself in Elizabeth, Christina, and even Celia at times. At times it was a little far-fetched, but then as you read, it made more sense and you found yourself saying "Yeah, I guess this actually could happen." I over-all loved this book; it was encouraging, up-lifting, and just really fun...and funny!

Rating: Summary: Not super good Review: I thought this book moved a little slowly in some parts. I also thought some of the ideas and things in here were a bit far fetched.
Rating: Summary: I'm doing this only because its homework Review: Book Review on "Feeling Sorry For Celia" Have you ever told someone all of the secrets in your life but you've never met the person? The book "Feeling Sorry for Celia" is all about these two girls who tell each other and write to each other all about their lives and what goes on in them, but yet they still have not met! Personally, I thought this book was very good and I felt like I couldn't put it down because I always wanted to know what would happen next. It almost feels like you know them personally because they get so in depth with their lives and it feels so personal. Some of the characters in the story were: ✓ Celia ✓ Elizabeth ✓ Christina ✓ Saxon ✓ Maddie ✓ Elizabeth's mother ✓ Elizabeth's father ✓ and many others... This book was filled with so many characters and that also made the book very interesting. This book is not only interesting though, it is also funny, and serious too. There were some parts that would make me want to cry but then there was also some parts that would make me want to the floor laughing. It provides many things in this book, so matter the style you would like, this book is it! So, are you liking the book so far? The ending makes it even better. I was surprised at the ending and that made that book even better. "Feeling Sorry for Celia" is also a number 1 bestseller in Australia. Have any of you ever had a secret crush and never knew who it was? That is one thing that happens to Elizabeth in the story and that is the part I couldn't put the book down. She has it down to four guys and she keeps trying to figure out which one it is, so it makes you want to guess who it is too. There is so much more I could say about that book, but I don't want to end up giving too much of the book away. All I can say is that this is one of the best books I have ever read. So, if you like stories about friendship, romance, laughter, family, adolescence, and a book that just makes you feel good, I suggest you read this book because it was such a page turner and I couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: Feeling sorry for celia Review: The book I read wad called "Feeling Sorry For Celia" by Jaclyn Moriarty and I really enjoyed this book. Elizabeth is the main character of the book and she is feisty but yet charming and she and the novel are a delight... This book tells about teen relationships in a humorous but very insightful fashion. The highs and lows alterate as dizzily as adolescent hormone levels including zits, crushes and all. Reading this book feels a little like snooping around in someones's personal diary, but after a short time it gets really fun and you won't be able to put the book down at all. "Feeling Sorry For Celia" shows the ups and downs of Elizabeth's life. . This fabulous novel is written entirely in the form of letters, postcards and missives from imaginary associations like "The Cold Hard Truth Association" and the "Teen Romance Association". This book used a lot of imagery, you can just imagine what everything looks like and what her relatives and friends look like, you really forget you're reading, like you're there with Elizabeth going through the same problems. It also used suspense and irony. You never know whats going to happen next and I personally couldn't put the book down. And the way the imaginary associations made her feel bad and then good again, saying that she was ugly and then sometimes congratulating her. It is a truly funny and fantastic book. But it also used characterisation. The characters in this book were described very creatively. I absolutely loved this book "Feeling Sorry For Celia", it was very funny and touching and I recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: AMAZINGLY GOOD BOOK Review: Oh my gosh. "Feeling Sorry for Celia" is such a GOOD book. I recommend it to anyone and everyone. Oh, I guess I should tell you why you should read it. This book mostly revolves around Elizabeth Clarry, a young fifteen-year-old Australian girl whose mother is a bit eccentric. Most of her conversations with her consists of some wacky notes written on the fridge. Liz's best friend, Celia never seems to stay still. She's always running away, to find life and experience. Her most recent conquest: joining the circus! This AWESOME book contains only letters from Elizabeth to and from her pen pal, Christina - who ends up knowing more about Elizabeth than anyone else living - letters from fake societies such as THE COLD HARD TRUTH, written to her to remind her of her faults, notes to and from her mother, and occasionally a few others. "Feeling Sorry for Celia" will have you laughing and understanding and even believing in Liz. She seems that real. Read this and I'm sure you'll fall in love with it. It's already one of my favorite books ever. Maybe it'll be yours. Also, if ou like this book, I recommend Sloppy Firsts, too.
Rating: Summary: This is a great book!! Review: This is a story about a girl who is facing many problems in her life. Her friend runs away and joins a circus, and she must go out and look for her. She is communicating through letters to a pen pal at a different school. Her and and her mom are talking through notes left on the refrigerator door every morning. It's a very well written story in the form of notes and letters to different people in this girl's life. A book for older kids.
Rating: Summary: Extremely Enjoyable Review: I loved this book. I work with middle schoolers so I often find it interesting to read books that are written for young adults, but this could as easily be considered a novel to be enjoyed by adults. It is well-written, extremely crisp and well-paced, witty, clever, true and sincere as well as heartwarming. I loved the characters and felt as though I were personally engaged in their lives from page one. I sincerely hope Jaclyn Moriarty is working on another similar work. Read this book!
