Rating: Summary: Here I Go Again Review: I see that I am way too popular here. I have almost as many comments directed my way as this author you all love so much. I also see that my comments were taken very far out of context. There is definitely no hating going on on my part. As I said before, I commend the writer for telling a story that needed to be told. I personally, with personally being the key word here, found the book hard to read due to the lack of sentence structure. I could never read something written like that. Maybe it's due to my education, but whatever the case, I could not follow all of the fragmented sentences. Obviously, I am in the minority as everyone else enjoys this work. I am not a proofreader because I can not write. Contrary to what may be believed, I am an avid writer and when my book is released very shortly, I will welcome any all criticism and won't think that any of it is hating. I don't hate on anyone doing what they do. Just because I don't like it, doesn't mean I hate it or am hating on it. To each his own. I may have taken a really inappropriate tone in my review and now realize that all that venom was not called for. For that, I apologize, though my opinion remains the same. Again, I commend the author for telling his story, yet I personally can not bare to read it.
Rating: Summary: LOVED THIS BOOK Review: I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE MY HAT OFF TO AL-SAADIQ BANKS,THIS WAS A GREAT BOOK. DU DROP, TONY, AND E WAS WHAT YOU WOULD CALL PAPER CHASERS AND SELLING DRUGS WAS THE ONLY WAY TO GET MONEY FAST. I LOVED THIS BOOK I READ IT IN ONE DAY I COULDNT PUT IT DOWN SO IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A GOOD STREET NOVEL ABOUT MONEY, DRUGS, AND DRAMA THEN PICK UP THIS BOOK YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.I CANT WAIT TO HIS NEXT BOOK COMES OUT WHENEVER THAT WILL BE !!!.
Rating: Summary: A Must Read About the Streets Review: My comment is directed to the reviewer from Brooklyn (Oct 6th). After reading your comments I came to the conclusion that there was some hating going on (on your part). This book was very good. We know that this was the author's first book and for a first book it held you attention and put you right there. If you had a hard time reading it, don't blame the author, maybe it was just your attention span. This book has been hard to locate in the stores because it sells so fast, so whether or not you recommend it to your friends wouldn't seem to matter much. You know there is a saying - those who can (do) and those who can't (teach). When I read your comments that was my first thought. Don't knock what you can't do yourself. Just because you claim to proofread does not mean you can write. That is one of the things wrong with our race now - everybody wants to down their brother or sister but no one is trying to build us up. A pat on the back to Mr. Banks for stepping out there on faith - keep on keeping on. I will be waiting for your next book. Just for the record - everybody that I know has said they enjoyed the book.
Rating: Summary: Boss of the Bosses Review: Oh my God who is this author! Mr. Banks You have me truly impressed with your book. Lately I been losing my love for reading. Every book is so fake it's hard to get in to it. Everybodies an "Big Time Drug Dealer" that dies or go to pri son for life. These books are to predictable for me. A friend of mine recommended I get your book. At first I was hesistant but then bought it. Every page placed me in the book with the characters. I'm nervous while reading every intense scene. This book is truly the best on the shelves. You would never think words on a page could touch a person so much. Not just any person could put together a book like this. Anything a person do it reflects there past. Just to let you know Mr. Banks I was there with you, from the beginning to the end of the book.If you ever thought it was "No Exit" for you.God just showed you your way out with this book. Keep up the good work, let no one discourage you.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Review: This book captured my intrest from begining to end. The characters was so real, I am from that era: the freinds, and the places took me back to a time in my life were things were rough. E, Tony, Du are like so many people who are going through lifes ups and downs. The aurthor had to live some of this if not all of the details because they are so true and direct. If you don't know the streets you do now. This book should be read by everyone to better understand the behaviors of young streeet dealers trying to better there lives but, just get caught up in the life style. Excellent read!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: "Hotttest Book Out Right Now" Review: This book was so good and interesting. Every page was filled with suspense, action, and excitement. Most of all the book was REAL and I knew what was going on because I know people that been through the same thing. It felt like I was right there and I could picture every situation. I recommend this book to anyone who is ready to read about the Streetz. Al Saadiq Banks is the newest and most creative author out right now and If he keeps writing books like this hit I believe he will be around for a long time.
Rating: Summary: Brick City at it's grimiest!!!! Review: This is one of the realest street books I've ever read in my life. The author really did his thing. I'm from the Brix. He took me back to the late eighties, early nineties. The way he describes the places and events, I swear I was right there all over again. White Castle after leaving Bergenfield skating rink, The Peppermint Lounge, all the big time dudes getting their cars detailed at High Tech car wash on a Saturday night before the skating rink. It was like a car show. If you were not a part of this era, after you read this book you will know all about it. And Tony how real was he, how he turned it up like that? This book has everything. He sums the Brix up in 200 pages. This is a must read. In his introduction he said Newark is the home of some of the grimiest people, he didn't lie, Buck Wild and his crew prove that. Let me stop before I tell the story. I have alreay added this book to the top of my favorites list, and so will you!!!!!
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT!!! Review: This novel is one of the best urban fiction novels I have ever read..the characters are real and will cause emotions from the readers as they read this book. The writer brings you into the urban experience through his characters. I suggest this novel to those who love a GOOD book!
Rating: Summary: True to Life! Review: This novel is really "true to life". The author Asaadiq Banks does a great job taking the reader to the streets and into the live's of three young men. Tony, E and Du. The story may be fiction but as I turned each page I felt as if I was living this story for real! Mr Banks truly writes as if he lived thru this drama. This book lets you know that the streets are a harsh and cold place where you have no friends and you can't trust no man not even family. I think this is a good book and if you have a young brother pass it onto him and ask him to read it. I am hooked for more true to life drama!
