Rating: Summary: Dahl is The Man Review: There's much in this book to interest anyone, soaked as it is with sex and connivery. For starters the glimpse into life at the beginning of last century is an eye-opener, especially the way women and men viewed each other and the way they interacted. It seems almost preferable to these politically correct times.
This book is full of great famous men, and their sperm. Oswald and his female companion travel the globe collecting semen from geniuses, artists and royalty to sell after the men have expired. Oswald is a dashing charismatic hero, devious, charming, relatively unscrupulous and very cunning. He's an entertaining fellow all right, and his exploits are pure escapsism for the sheltered among us. I doubt there's a single red blooded man who wouldn't love to have walked a mile in Oswald's shoes, or even a few meters. Therein, I suppose, lies the book's charm; if we can't live that life, we can observe it up close and marvel at it.
Most inventive in this book, I found, were the sex scenes. There is hardly a page in this book without some reference to copulation, but Dahl's done it pretty smoothly. The scenes are graphic yet tasteful. He tells just enough of what's going on for you to picture as much as you like. Damn good fun, this book.
Rating: Summary: My Uncle Oswald Review: As a child I was a huge Roald Dahl fan. When my sister told me that he also wrote Adult books, I was so excited. I read this one a few weeks ago, and it was so entertaining! Really a great, funny, story. I recommend that anyone looking for a clever, hilarious novel pick up this one. Right now I'm buying copies for all of my friends.

Rating: Summary: Dahl spins a fairy tale for adults Review: As a kid, I loved Dahl's children's books. As an adult, he makes me laugh with his short stories, and especially with this thoroughly entertaining adult fiction. In it, he he tells of three characters out to collect the genes of famous or brilliant men, with their consent but not their knowledge. I giggled through the entire book in anticipation of each new "collection" scheme. This is a book for all Dahl fans.
Rating: Summary: The funniest book I have ever read Review: Don't let the enthusiasm of other reviewers make you think they are not being objective. This has got to be one of the best books ever written, yet I have never seen it hailed as a gem by any literary critic. It is superbly written, will have you laughing out loud until you get stiches, and has an incredible (to put it mildly) plot. It is definetely one of my favorite books!
Rating: Summary: Amusing but Inferior Dahl Review: For completists, a necessity, but not his best work. He clearly had some fun writing it-- you'll have fun reading it. Best to stick with his short-stories, though-- they represent the cream of his adult fiction.

Rating: Summary: One night read - Hilarious Review: Haven't read this book for years, but I still remember it and loved it. Normally a very difficult book to find or special order. I give it to friends as a gift. Raunchy!! But not rude or offensive.
Rating: Summary: Funny, Creative, but not Great Review: I enjoyed this book totally, but was astounded by the large amount of perfect reviews. This was a funny, funny book, but there was a lot of overblown craziness. The plot was rather linear, and the twist ending was not up to par for Dahl. All in all, classic Dahl- yes; genius- no.
Rating: Summary: A great raunchy read Review: I hadn't read this since my adolescence and (like a lot of things I enjoyed at that age) I was prepared to be disappointed. However, I wasn't ; this was a fantastically amusing and sexy novel, although never offensive (unless you are related to any of the real-life characters !)
