Rating: Summary: Another ...click.... Great Thriller From Mr. Deaver! Review: I know that suspension of disbelief is very important when you read a book like this, but that is why I read a book like this. Great characters, fun plot twists, and never a ...click... dull moment.
Rating: Summary: Great Read! Review: Ruthless villains and unlikely heroes seem to be the backbone of Deaver's novels. The plot twists and turns as an FBI team and a reluctant handwriting expert try to find a callous shooter known as the Digger and his master. The book is a fascinating journey into the workings of the FBI team as they try to stay a step ahead of an evil mastermind. Beware of any review that tells too much of the plot - it could ruin the book for you. It's a great read - impossible to put down - and it truly isn't over until the very last page!
Rating: Summary: Sleepless in Alabama Review: This masterfully written novel has all the best characteristics of what a suspense/thriller should be. Deaver allows you to enter the psyche of the caracters and learn what makes them "tick". Thank you Mr. Deaver for a great read without all the gore!
Rating: Summary: ANOTHER GREAT READ Review: Jeffery Deaver has a way with words. He draws you into the story and makes you feel as though you're there, invisible, looking over everyone's shoulder.A Maiden's Grave is also highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Chilling...and thoughtful Review: Jeffrey Deaver continues to expand his abilities with each of his books. There is never an end to the expectation of what will happen next!
Rating: Summary: Terrific? Hardly... Review: I really, really enjoy Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme series so I was hoping this would be as good as the rest, I was wrong. This book is poorly written and seems rushed, its way too long and the plot jumps around too much. I hated the Digger character, the scenes describing his progression are flat and uneven. I really enjoyed the characters of Parker Kincaid and Margaret Lukas but besides a few anecdotes, they are never fully fleshed out. I also didn't care for the mystery, its not a good thriller, the action scenes are done well, but their is really no mystery, the FBI always to stumble upon clues and it gets infuriating after a while having to put up with annoying sub-plots. I hope Deaver's next Rhyme novel, "The Empty Chair", is better because this book is a stinker.
Rating: Summary: More is less Review: I was disappointed by this book. I cut Deaver a lot of slack in the Bone Collector and Coffin Dancer primarily because the plots were well devised. Not so here. While the two leads are interesting characters, the deductions made to catch the killer are ludicrous to the point of undermining the books credibility. Deaver even plagiarises himself by using a fundamental plot twist from Coffin Dancer. In short, a forgetful and cartoon-like read.
Rating: Summary: What a dog! Review: I hated this book! Predictable, phony. The supposedly crack FBI team drops the ball at every turn, and you can see it coming a mile away. Deaver obviously was under the gun from his publisher and agent to finish this book PRONTO. No way to suspend disbelief in this one; too many of the scenes are ludicrous. Mr. Deaver, please retire for a while if this is what you're going to provide your readers with from now on.
Rating: Summary: worthwhile mystery read Review: Devil's Teardrop kept my interest and was not easy to figure out until you got closer to the end. It starts out strong with a character's unexpected death. It had (almost) that necessary edge to be a thriller but not - therefore a mystery book. A book instead of novel because novel indicates a higher level of authorship. Read this when you want something distracting enough to finish. One thing, the title of the book being the last day...is way overdramatic for the storyline.
Rating: Summary: Terrific Thriller Review: Incredibly suspenseful, multilayered thriller that starts with a bang and just gets better and better. A rare combination of warm, believable characters, realistic technical detail, ingenious plot twists, and polished writing. And just when you think it can't get any more exciting, Deaver ratchets up the suspense another notch!
