Rating: Summary: Reader's Digest to Empress New Clothes?!?!?! Review: After reading the Empress' New Clothes, I couldn't wait to read about Seized. Black had created a great relationship and strong chemistry between Kyra and Zor, and I was looking forward to a similar development with Geris and Dak. Not so. This book acted as a supplemental to the first book. I didn't see a fully developed relationship between these two characters which was a shame because there really aren't that many romance books out on the market today that deal with interracial relationships involving African Americans and Caucasians. The "steamy" scenes that existed were too short. Geris and Dak's main function is to provide "comic relief" for the remaining players. This book is focused on creating hilarious moments rather than erotic scenarios. After Black created such a fascinating world in the first book, I was anticipating additional sub plots in this book...nowhere to be found. Plus for 11.99, this book is only 145 pages!!! Although I plan on purchasing other Jaid Black books, this one was let me down. Don't buy this book. I wish that someone had written a review like mine before I purchased it.
Rating: Summary: The story of Dak & Geris with a few other subplots.... Review: For all of you who follow Jaid Black this is vol 1.5 released not long ago that continues the story of the royal brothers of Tryston finding their sacred mates (cute term for wives). In this story Dak goes to Las Vegas to find his mate Geris as he was told he would find her there by the high priestess Ari. Yep, he finds her, kidnaps her and takes her back to the seventh dimension where she is reunited with her best friend Kyra. Read vol 1 to understand how she was kidnapped by Dak's older brother, Zor.Now, if you like your erotic romance fictions with lots of super hunky men who are faithful to one woman and serious about it then you have found home. Lots of sex, lots and lots of it. A couple of woman to woman scenes thrown in for a good rounding (not my cup of tea so I tend to go through these fast). Not only are the men serious about their women (there happens to be a shortage) they are truly devoted and sensitive to boot. Not sensitive in that they talk too much but sensitive in that they wear their hearts on their sleeves and let you know it. There is just enough man handling to be juicy and not get to the point where you start thinking abuse. So put your reality meter onhold and have fun with the book.
Rating: Summary: Fun-filled and sexy!!! Review: Geris and Dak heat up the pages and had me holding my sides to try to prevent my internal organs from bursting out from laughing so hard... I mean, buttheads and Rustians, plus Geris herself being a very jealous - and extremely vocal with it - lady who does NOT take trash from anyone, not even Dak. Steamy sex and loads of laughter as the whole gang from "The Empress' New Clothes" strikes again. Great imagination on the part of Jaid Black to create the world Trek Mi Q'an.
Rating: Summary: Not bad but could of been better Review: I eagerly awaited the arrival of this book since Ms. Black's first book was so good. But I was a bit disappointed with this one. Geris Jackson the main female character was a bit much. However Dak the main male character was to die for. The plot was a little weaker than the first book as well. Hopefully the next book in the series will be better.
Rating: Summary: Siezed my cash Review: Let's see where do I begin? Ok - I liked Dak very much - he's the strong and sensitive type - very dedicated to the one he loves. Geris is a strong woman and thankfully she was not represented as a generalised version of a black woman as some authors like to do... but she was strong and intelligent but a little mean at times but hey, what do you expect from a woman who's been kidnapped by a giant and taken to another planet? I guess all in all she handled it well - seeing as she had noone or nothing on earth to stay for anyways. BUT (there's always a but) I had some issues with some of the sexual encounters depicted throughout the book. I know, I know its erotica and a fantasy erotica at that, but the way the women were used made me take pause. It just seemed like a sex fest where the women were there to serve the men and take whatever sexual depravity was dished out to them... what little story there was was interesting but sometimes the scenes seemed to jump from one scenario to the next leaving me feeling a little disoriented - making me go back to the last page to ensure I didn't miss a page or something! I would have liked to give it 4 stars but those who are looking for a great story interspersed with interesting love scenes would agree that 3 stars is better for a goodish story with out there sex scenes. Hope this helped!
Rating: Summary: A Good Continuation of a Popular Series Review: NOTE: SEIZED should not be read without first reading THE EMPRESS' NEW CLOTHES (book 1, Trek Mi Q'an series) In this long awaited book, Black tells the story of King Dak Q'an Tal and Geris Jackson. Picking up where we last left her in EMPRESS, Geris is standing in a parking lot alone after two 7 feet tall men abduct her best friend. Three years later, Geris is still searching for Kyra. She is accosted in Vegas by one of the men that snatched Kyra. Turns out Kyra has been transported to another planet, where she's married one of her abductors. The other kidnapper, the one standing before Geris today, is Kyra's brother-in-law. He also declares himself to be Geris's sacred mate. Readers of SEIZED will find themselves firmly enmeshed in Black's warrior world. Old friends are revisited as Dak and Geris's relationship unfolds. Tongue-in-cheek humor and classic over-the-top male behavior keep the tale brisk. While I did find creatures such as the pugmuffs and rustians to be a bit excessive, I enjoyed this story. Though containing no big surprises, this book should be read by Trek Mi Q'an fans who want to round out the series.
Rating: Summary: ANOTHER WINNER Review: part two or(1.5) as jaid calls it. another winner please get this book in both formats please. after the dissaperance of her friend over three yrs ago. geris as been looking for her. well she has found her and someone else her sacred mate. i laughed and smiled at geris sass, you will love it, it brings back old friend and new, you'll love the creature rustians. you will not be dissappointed in this installment. you still can see the world of the TREK M'QAN.
Rating: Summary: Another great read!!!!!!!!! Review: Seized fills in the missing parts after Kyra (The Empress' new clothes-1st. in the Trek Mi Q'an series) is kidnapped by Zor & taken to a new universe. Dak, Zor's brother didn't have time to scan Geris to see if she is his sacred mate. He go's back to Earth 3 years after to search for Geris, finding her in Vegas.
Geris cannot believe what is happening to her, everywhere she goes there are all different creatures jumping on her & feeding of her. It is hillarious. Although terribly shocked & embarrased by the things that is happening & done to her, Geris finds that absolutely anything goes in this new world she finds herself in.
I can't wait to get No mercy, the next in the series. This one is the 3rd brother, Rem's story.
Rating: Summary: Good second part of Black's Trek Mi Q'an series! Review: The second part of Jaid Black's Trek Mi Q'an series is centered on Geris and Dak's relationship. If you've read The Empress' New Clothes, then you would know that Dak got one look at the black beauty and knew that she was his Sacred Mate and brought her to the planet of Tryston where she had to adjust to the aforementioned planet's rather unconventional sexual lifestyle and lack of inhibitions. Well... in Seized, we get to read about Dak and Geris's erotic couplings and how each one has to compromise with each other's attitudes and customs. Dak expects his sacred mate to behave in a submissive nature while Geris finds it difficult to shatter all of her inhibitions and forget about the feministic thoughts that she'd learned on earth. There are some smolderingly erotic moments throughout the book... I like that the reader gets the opportunity to know more about Geris and Dak. Geris is a great character. I also like Dak -- I actually like him better than Zor from Empress. I liked the interracial romance between the protagonists -- though skin color and race aren't issues in planet Tryston. Jaid Black's scenes are wonderfully explicit, deliciously descriptive. My biggest complaint about this novel is that it is too short. It's more of a novella. I also noticed that Black repeated some of the scenes from Empress, but this time from Geris and Dak's point of view. All in all, this is a great second part of the Trek Mi Q'an series and I look forward to reading more. Jaid Black has satisfied me once again with this delectable treat.
Rating: Summary: Seized Review: This novel is surprisingly short for the price. It's only 160 pages and it's not small type. This novel is a sequel to The Empress' New Clothes and can't really be read without it. Certain parts of that novel are repeated in this one. I liked Geris and Dak. I wish that their romance had a greater part in this novel. For some reason, the author chose to put in segments about other characters who I can only assume will be featured in other novels. During these times, the main characters are not even mentioned. Also, if you're in favor of complete monogamy from your characters as I am, this isn't the book for you. I found the love scenes to be rather more a description of sex than love making. I didn't find it to be nearly sensual or stimulating enough. And here again, I don't think the main couple was focused on enough. I can only recall one love scene that was properly described between the two of them.
