Rating: Summary: Stellar! Review: Being privelaged to see the New York premiere of this work many years ago, I was thrilled to see the movie when it came out (also many years ago). This is a "one-of-a-kind" play and really can't be put into any category with the exception of "Southern." That said, it holds up as well today as it did when it first came out. Funny, sad, well-paced, and above all, well-written, this stellar tour-de-force piece of theatre will take you through all the emotions--and then some. Also recommended: McCrae's BARK OF THE DOGWOOD
Rating: Summary: Moving Review: Steel Magnolias is a well written play that is easy to read. It describes the life of 5 ladies and causes you to feel as if you are a part of their lives. It is a moving book and expresses the power of love and friendship and endurance. It shows how the life of one can easily affect many others. We often take for granted the ones we love. This play helps the reader to realize this. I really enjoyed reading this play.
