Rating: Summary: Off the Hook Review: An appropriate title for this BOOK!I didn't think that Lolita could top Scenes From a Sistah, but she did!I loved Scenes from a Sistah and I love this book just as much, probably MORE! "Oh my GOODNESS!" and that is a direct quote from me and my girlfriends. This book kept me awake and reading all night long! I loved it! An excellent book especially for us ladies who live ordinary lives with the average 9-5 jobs.My reading buddies and I had a great time reading and discussing this book.A great book club book.
Rating: Summary: I Never Got To the Good Part Review: First of all this book is funny. I was already laughing about three pages in. Aside from that Lolita Files gives us a chance to get personal with Reesy's personality and she does it really well. Reesy, however is not the most likeable person and there are certain times in the book when i wonder why Misty puts up with her. She's selfish, manipulative, rude but she is also FUNNY and at times very real and that if nothing else is enough to keep you reading.Ms Files book was the first in a long time to get any emotional reaction out of me. She had me laughing and crying on the way to work. She's done a great job of matching her first book with one just as good.
Rating: Summary: Good fast read! Review: I really loved this book!!! This is the third Lolita Files novel I have read and I will be purchasing another! I found Reesy funny, brave, determained, and real.....I wasn't to crazy about the ending and that is the only reason I didn't give this book a 5 but it is a page turner, I finished it the same evening I got it....
Rating: Summary: A book that makes you believe in love and friendship Review: I sat down to read this book wholeheartedly hoping that I would laugh as much as I did with Scenes from A Sistah. I was not disaapointed. Reesy and Misty share the love, courage, and friendship that I share with my bestfriend. I cried, I laughed, I smiled and I was not disappointed as these two women embraced life with enthusiasm and gusto. Reesy is a woman that you love one minute and hate the other...Misty has found what every woman looks for - "Prince Charming!" I only hope that I can find a Dandre in my life and in the end, Reesy gets a lesson in life. This book is a must read for all of those who believe that there is no such thing as forgiving, friendship, and love!! I read this book in 4 hours!!! Lolita Files is an excellent writer. Her book is easy to read, it's funny, and holds your attention from the first page untill the last. I can hardly wait for her new book. I have recommended this book to all of my friends and bought it as a gift for a few.
Rating: Summary: I sure did get to the good part!!!!! Review: Lolita girl, please tell me you are working on the sequel to "Getting...."!!! I read this book immediately after "Scenes....". This book was da bomb!!! I am sorry I read it so fast. I didn't want to leave from Misty's and Reesy's lives. I am recommending this book to all of my friends. I could relate to both Misty' and Reesy's lives and the trials and tribulations that they both went through. Lolita reinforced for us that sometimes we can live happily ever after and can find our Knight in Shining Armor! I also want to thank Ms. Lolita for taking me back to NY and making me feel like I was home due to the fact that I live in Maryland now. This book made me laugh, cry, and pray for the type of relationship shared between Misty and Reesy. Through thick and thin, happy and sad times, these two sistahs stuck together and helped each other through some rough times. These two was an example of true friendship that all sistahs need to take heed to. These two are definitely what the title"BEST FRIENDS" stands for. I can't want for Ms. Lolita's next book. Hopefully she's working on it as I type. One last thing, this book also shows us a valuable lesson that the battle is not ours it's the Lord's. You see, Reesy's revenge tactics backfired and she was the one hurt while trying to get revenge. I am happy that it had a happy ending though. Ms. Lolita, may God continue to bless you and keep the good books coming.
Rating: Summary: Steamy,Intriguing and Deliciously Sexy from start to finish Review: Misty Fine and Reesy Snowden exhibit the kind of friendship that I have experienced with (two) of my best friends. They make you so mad you want to fight and they make you soooo happy that you don't know what you would do without them in your life. I love that they are both women enough to admit when they have made major mistakes in their relationships. I could identify with all of this plot until the very end. This is a must read for all ladies with top of the line girlfriends. I will give it as a gift for my friends in a flash. I read this book in one day, it's that great. I did not read 'Scenes from A Sistah', but after reading this book, I'm headed to the nearest book store. I'm waiting on the next Misty Fine and Reesy Snowden episode. Please tell me there will be more to come. Pleaseeeeeee. Thank you.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT Review: One of the worst things about writing a sequel is the author MUST make it as good as if not better than the first one. Ms. Files passed the test. I was happy that Reesy was our potaganist this time around and we were allowed to get into this WILD girl's head. At times I felt she was acting like a 22 year old rather than a 32 year old, but I was impressed with her development throughout the book. Inside her tough as nails "hand in your face" sister-girl deameanor, she was a very emotional and sensitive person. I literally cried tears with her as she discovered a love lost. Ms. Files did an EXCELLENT descriptive job of putting Reesy in touch with her feelings. There's not a woman out there who can't relate to this type of love and pain. It was emotionally real. We saw a different side of Misty in this story as well. Her character wasn't quite as developed as Reesy's, but her maturity was evident. I loved the way Ms. Files ended the book on a closed note, not leaving the readers looking for more. EXCELLENT is all I can say.
Rating: Summary: Got to the good part... it was worth the wait! Review: She's back... "Reesy" Snowden narrates this sequel to "Scenes from a Sistah". She tells a much more colorful and drama-filled story than you could imagine. It felt like I was watching an R-rated film with lots of suspense, romance and drama. The sistahs and brothas are fun and full of entertainment. I enjoyed this novel even more than "Scenes..." because Reesy tells a more exciting story! She is full of laughs and imagery. Although the language was often too vulgar, I was able to accept it as part of her racy, risque, and raw character. Nevertheless, I loved Reesy even more for opening her heart and her mouth to give of herself even when it hurt. This is a good read about good friends who endure much love, pain, and ultimate joy!
Rating: Summary: You have to read this book! Review: This book brought tears to my eyes, and smiles to my lips. It was very moving and easy to relate to all the characters on one level or another. The characters were for the most part very down to earth and each one of them has reminded me of someone I know. I enjoyed it a lot more than the Scenes From a Sistah, but you have to read Scenes first in order to fully understand the people and their dilemmas. I felt that I had grown with the characters, and knowing where they came from gave me a better picture of where they were going.
Rating: Summary: I Never Got To the Good Part Review: This book was an embarrasment, in my opinion. I bought it because it was a selection of the Literary Guild, and was sorely disappointed. The plot was shallow and thin... the characters were under-developed.... the dialogue was low-class, vulgar and unimaginative. And how realistic is it to have a man buy you a Porsche boxster after he sleeps with you for the first time... and give the girl a ring after he catches her naked in bed with another man. Talk about living in a fantasy world! I suspended reality, but this novel just wasn't believable or credible. No more Lolita Files for me. I missed the good part altogether!
