Review: Without a trace of literary "style", Yates' stories do justice to, by bringing to unmistakeable life, a fantastic array of very real sadnesses. The overriding sadness is that his work has been neglected, as many have already stated. One can see how the peace 'n love zeitgeist of recent times almost managed to banish him. What other fashions condemned him to writer's writer status may also pass. I hope so.
