Rating: Summary: Not anything like Shakespeare in love Review: This book tells the story of a real person, the daughter of the famed playwright William Shakespeare. Her twin bother drowns, leaving Judith guilty for something she did not cause. Years later, the family tragedy will manifest itself in a play that Shakespeare writes- Twelfth Night. Determined to sabotage the show, Judith goes to London and the famed Globe theatre. But when she gets there, Judith becomes entranced by the world of the stage, and disguises herself as a boy in order to play a part. It is a fantastic story of deception and betrayal. Although slightly improbably, the story is engaging. I also enjoyed the descriptions of Elizabethan life, in London and in Stratford.
I?ve read here that people are comparing My Father Had a Daughter with Shakespeare in Love. While I had the same thought when I began to read this, I found that the two are really completely different. See the movie and read the book, and you?ll see.
