Summary: Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures
Review: After devoting all of her time and money towards a recording contract that does not happen, Victoria Carlton is desperate and left without a job or any money. Faced with mounting debt, the possibility of eviction, and taking care of her young son, Victoria seeks temporary employment at Pandora's Box, a massage/prostitution parlor. At Pandora's Box, she meets several intriguing people. The women who work there as well as the johns that frequent the establishments present deviance and destitution at its best. Although it was only supposed to be a temporary situation, Victoria finds herself caught up in the fast money and materialism that Pandora's Box offers her. After experiencing much drama and meeting a "special" client, Victoria is able to begin a journey of self-discovery about herself and her employment.

Allison Hobbs debut novel is a drama filled quick read. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Summary: Is money or the love of money the root of all evil?
Review: Allison Hobbs, in her debut novel details the story Victory Carlton. Victoria, a wannabe singer, falls on hard times after she invests the small inheritance left to her by her Grandmother Nana on making a demo with a sleazy manager, Justice Martin in order to gain exposure for her in the music industry.

When the record deal falls through, in desperation and as last resort, Victoria, takes the name of Pleasure and joins the working class of prostitutes at a brothel called Pandora's Box.

At Pandora's Box, Victoria meets the sleaziest people, which only adds to her depression about the change in her life. But it is not until Kareem walks through the doors that Victoria allows herself to open up to the possibilities of love again. Even with the prospect of love on the horizon, is Victoria able to give up Pandora's Box? Or will she allow the fast money to control her life and stay at Pandora's Box?

I found the story enjoyable, but felt that the author spent too much time on the other characters at Pandora's Box, thereby letting the main character's story take a back seat too often. I also found that Kareem's character was not fully developed and thereby a great love story was lost because of this. The ending to the book was too quick and the tone of, "They lived happily ever after," was not fitting for all of the drama that Victoria and Kareem should've had to deal with, in her chosen profession.

Summary: EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER
Review: Every day we find ourselves making life changing decisions. Allison Hobb's character, Victoria found herself in a situation which seemed hopeless. Backed into corner she did what it took to survive. Allison's vivid writing skills will put you directly in the middle of the chaos and you will feel the emotions her characters experienced. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
I can't wait for Allison's next novel!

Summary: She's such a great Drama queen!
Review: I can't wait to hear more from her but she remains my top fav. author of all-time 2 date which I suggest. I don't think u should give away any musical CD, book or whatever just b/c it's not helping u or helping u out or probably b/c u just wanted to let it go and move on with other stuff. This book means all the contradictions, trials and tribulations u face in life incl. depression, dying, suicide, pain, envy, divorce, friendship, broken relationships (saved or unsaved), u know all those things. People need to understand what it's coming from the heart. I think I should pick this up ASAP until I have currently read The Autobiography of Malcolm X, Primary Colors and Divided Soul: The Life of Marvin Gaye which I reading at this moment. No reader, buyer, or reviewer should be dissappointed about this @ all. This is definitely going into my collection of books I'm reading thru.

Summary: A Good Read
Review: I have to say it was definitely a good read...a little
"off-the-chain" than I usually read, but I enjoyed it
none the less. I was glad to see that Victoria was
able to find love in this drama filled novel. Kareem
was definitely mature and well-grounded for his age,
not to mention quite unique to be able to handle this
relationship considering the way he met Victoria...not
too many men would want to be involved, or at least
not seriously commit to a woman working in Pandora's
Box. Kareem was able to see that there had to be
more to this woman (Pleasure) and something had to
have gone terribly wrong for her to be working at
Pandora's Box, it's like he took that second look and
saw beyond the surface...it was a little unrealistic,
but hey what's wrong with a little fantasy.

I have to say thanks to Allison for sharing
all the heads up information regarding her
novel...and keep up the good work...looking
forward to reading more of your work.

Summary: Pandora's Box
Review: It was alright, but it seem that something was missing in the book.. Im still trying to figure out what happened to Justice Martin? Did he just walk away with everything? Hersey, and Gabrialle was never intruduced into the book properly. You know the book had so many unanswered questions. Maybe next time..

Summary: Allison Hobb's debut: Pandora's Box
Review: Pandora's Box is a modern day street fairy tale. Victoria's name is perfect because she was victorious over a lot of obstacles! Victoria's character could have had a much different fate. As in life, sometimes it's not the obstacle or conflict, it's the attitude you take towards your tribulations which make the difference. If you would like to know more about the seedy world of sex for money, this your book. The author gave a realistic view of a single parent household, which can be less than nurturing when that parent has to work for every penny. She gave readers a strong female character who sinks very low, and the reader wonders if she will ever emerge from her hell. I was very interested in the characters from start to finish, and found myself intrigued wondering what a more intense development of characters such as Kareem and Jonee, would uncover. Allison can hone a few more books from the stories of these characters, as well as a sequel or a book giving the story before Pandora's Box discovers the main characters. I will definitely purchase her next novel.

Summary: ONLY BECAUSE...
Review: Someone keeps recommending this instead of many different musical cd's. Whoever is doing this, grow up and stop playing with the recommendations, if we want to review books, we will!

Summary: Entertaining
Review: The author really captures the reader with her adventures of the ladies working at Pandora's Box. The dialogue was very colorful and it actually felt like you were living these events with the ladies. The ending was unpredictable and it was just an enjoyable read. I wonder if the author has actually lived this, for the story was too believable and vivid.
