Summary: An incredible resource.
Review: "Shakespeare Festivals Around the World" (Marcus D. Gregio, editor) is an incredible resource and a welcome addition to any bardolatry collection. The essays that introduce the body of material represent all areas of live Shakespeare: from the points of view of an actor, a designer, a producer, a director, and others. The well-written and truly fascinating essays build the foundation that is the focus of this book. That focus, the listings of the companies and festivals that produce Shakespeare, include addresses; telephone numbers; contact names; and descriptions. If you are someone who wants to see live Shakespeare, this book is a map to a bursting treasure chest that itself contains gold. And if you work in the field, this book is a networking extravaganza that truly can assist you in finding appropriate venues for employment--venues that can easily be aligned with your own strengths and interests due to the descriptive content from each major company. Highly recommended, "Shakespeare Festivals Around the World" is a must-own if you have any interest in Shakespeare and his plays.

Summary: A Most Excellent Guide!
Review: Describing a reference book as insightful and enchanting is somewhat of an oxymoron but indeed, this book is all of this and more.
This is a "human" reference guide to major Shakespeare festivals and theatres, down to local and volunteer groups across the world. Descriptions, essays and thoughts are expressed in "real" terms by people with "hands on" experience who actually present Shakespeare's works; working through the process and realizing the the challenge and joy of performing the works of the world's greatest playwright. A must for any Shakespeare enthusiast.
