Rating: Summary: Amazing style, moderate substance! Review: I found Jeff Noon's "Vurt" to be an extraordinarily exciting head trip through his most phenomenal imagination; I loved it!"Nymphomation" has much of the fascinating style and energy that Vurt is very capable of, but seems to lack substance for me. As before, I loved being immersed in Noon's scrambled vision of the almost future. I breathlessly trailed along with his characters racing towards their uncertain fates as their dark world of Manchester bubbled and squirmed under the influence of the Blurbflies that were inexorably saturating their consciousness. And then, and then...... no biggy. If you have the time, read this one for the trip, but not for the destination.

Rating: Summary: Vurtually perfect (sorry!) Review: I never thought maths could be sexy. This is easily the best book from the Vurt series, the literary equivalent of listening to Autechre or Funkstorung, Strange and alien, yet emotional, and beautiful. This is not science fiction, it's much too good for that.
Rating: Summary: Double One Review: Jeff Noon is probably one of the most clever and talented word artists in the Sci genere today. I have read several of his books (even a few I had to get off the UK Amazon site) and I am increasingly impressed. That said, Nyphomation is BY FAR my favorite. Not only can this man think and write but he manages to make it all fun. Having read Vurt first it was just a pleasure when I read Nyphomation and learned what exactly Vaz was and who this Hobart person was (Noon is like Hienline that way). If you haven't read it yet then I am jealous of you cause you are really in for a treat.
Rating: Summary: PLAY TO WIN: this book tells you how Review: My god, read this book. Jeff Noon is one of the few science fiction writers out there who is writing on all cylinders. This tells a story of lottery-mania, restaurants, love, gambling, obsession and life in all its wasted glory. Remember, reading Jeff Noon makes you smart.
Rating: Summary: jeff noon is always worthwhile Review: Noon has the best writing style I've come across in this whole 'cyberpunk' genre (or whatever people are calling it these days). His plots and environments are always very imaginative and he breathes a good deal of culture and life into his novels. Instead of focusing on overly-wordy descriptions of computer hardware and jacking-into-the-virtual-cyber-realm-via-the-com-link type thing that too many other authors fall victim to; Noon instead comes up with very different and surreal means of involving future technology and culture. Nymphomation wasn't as good as Vurt in my opinon, but, it was still an excellent read. Noon's writing has frequently inspired me to get up and do something creative.
Rating: Summary: So intense I screamed at the end Review: Nymphomation was an intense reading experience unlike one I've ever had before. Once I realized it was a prequel to Vurt, one of my favorite books, I became even more interested in it. I hate to use cliches, but this book really WAS a non-stop roller coaster ride. It was fast-paced and thrilling, nail-biting and had me "on the edge of my seat." But seriously - the tension in this book was so high that when I finally finished it - reading the last 200 pages in one long nonstop burst - I screamed to release everything that was pent up inside. If you want a book that will throw you into another world and won't let you out even after the book is closed, read Nymphomation.
Rating: Summary: astonishing. Review: PLAY TO WIN PLAY TO WIN PLAY TO WIN. i'd looked at this book - and jeff noon in particular, quite a bit in the bookstores. kept picking it up, then putting it down again .. then again, and again. it started with 'automated alice', one of his other books (which is now, after reading this, next on my list to purchase!), and i just somehow picked this one up instead. i have never found a science-fiction book to be so poetic. the style, the rhythm, the characterisation.. everything felt like a bizarre cubist landscape, with super-automated camera jibes. twists and turns - this is a book for the imaginative, for those who can -see- a book while it is being read.. read it in one sitting. jeff noon is absolutely incredible, and i fully intend to purchase the rest of his artistry.
Rating: Summary: never read this Review: This is possibly the WORST book that I have ever read! This phenominally badly written book is packed with obviously out of touch attempts to key into areas of youth culture. Cliched and naive imagery and dialogue somehow detract from a simplistic and uninventive narrative. It is predictable, boring and entirely uninteresting. Never read this book.
Rating: Summary: Great book but not as good as Vurt Review: this was a really good book, i immidiatly picked it up after reading VURT (which in my opinion is the best book ever so read it!) I went into reading this book with very high expectations because VURT was soooo good. Nymphomation was good dont get me wrong i enjoyed it a lot but towards the end it gets a little stretched out. This is another Noon masterpiece but take my advice and read Vurt first.
