Summary: Not so much 'death' as 'reframing' of area studies/comp lit
Review: to ...enter into domains of "transnational literacy" and global/local pedagogy in vigilant capacious ways. Gayatri Spivak is always up ahead of the semi-dying white frames, and pushes towards the worlding world and planetary ethos in ways that command respect and awaken literature/literary studies to responsibility and innovation a la Kenneth Burke, Leo Spitzer, Spinoza, Marx, and Jospephine Miles all in one. The clarity of the calling and complexity of the range can only be neglected by the antiquarians or nostalgic new-historians being convincingly displaced into the cynical margins of anti-theory where they smarmily belong... excellent three chapter book, hardhitting and on the mark, prodding and material all along the area
