Rating: Summary: A Happy Ending Review: Lookin For Luv was pretty good. The story was about 3 friends, by the name of Tyrone, Kevin and Antoine. All their drama started when they decided to call a date line, 1-900-BLACK-LUV trying to find luv in New York City (my hometown).Needless to say, you know things didn't go smoothly for them to find luv, there was drama, drama, drama. From a woman stalking Kevin to Antione falling in love with a transvestite, with a whole lot more in between. What touched me the most about this book was Tyrone came into a good fortune and he shared it with the mothers of his daughters, because when he was being irresponsible they took care of his children and he wanted to repay them. Hell, I said to myself, self, I wish my twinz father would be so gracious because he is not doing jack for his sons and they are 9 years old. Okay, okay getting back to the story, that really touched my heart. I wasnt too crazy about the woman Kevin picked and you will see why if you choose to read the book. All I have to say is, I guess that's the pattern of abuse. I hesitated a long time to read this book, like a good 2 years. I enjoyed the book, but I can not say that I am sorry I waited.
Rating: Summary: Dial 1-900 For Luv! Review: Looking for a book to pick you up and make you laugh and one that presents AA males in a normal, realistic perspective...then look no further than Lookin' For Luv. This debut novel from Carl Weber is witty, entertaining, easy to read and filled with realistic characters and situations. Lookin' For Luv is the story of four AA men who work together and who are all looking for love via 1-900-BLACK LUV. The storyline is told from the AA male's perspective and combines comedy, drama, romance, dating during the '90s and contemporary issues to form a compelling and well crafted tale. Everyone who's ever been in the dating game can relate to at least one of the colorful characters in this book. These characters provide antics and situations which keep you LOL(laughing out loud), ROTF(rolling on the floor), hollering out loud and talking to the book..."no he/she didn't go there". My favorite character was Tyrone gosh was this brotha smooth with his 10 Rules to Satisfy a Woman; and my least favorite character who had absolutely no obvious redeeming qualities was Maurice. Yes I thoroughly enjoyed Lookin' For Luv and highly recommend it for a chance of pace...if you want to laugh a lot then pick up this book today...you won't be disappointed. Okay you might be disappointed with the epilogue...I didn't think it was fair to one of the characters and was oh so cold...and the cover could use some work. The couple portrayed(on the cover) makes it seem that Lookin' For Luv is only for a very young audience but the characters are relatable to anyone including those folks who are in their 20s or their 50s. BOTTOM LINE: I still really really really like Lookin' For Luv and am looking forward to future novels from newcomer Carl Weber.
Rating: Summary: Lookin' for Luv Review: This book is a must read. It was very hard to put the book down because each chapter left you wanting to know more. I recommend this book to men and women. This book left you with some real life questions to ask yourself and maybe others. I plan to have my sons read the book and have a family discussion regarding the characters and their actions and what they can learn from the characters experiences. I can't wait to read Carl Weber's other books. Thank you Carl Weber.
Rating: Summary: A definite page turner!!!!!! Review: This book is a must read. Carl Weber has outdone himself with this story. The story has a slow beginning, but has a twisted plot. If you like drama that includes cheating and boyfriend, girlfriend stealing then this is the book for you. I cannot put this book down for anything. Carl Weber is now on my favorite author list.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: This is one of those books you take everywhere and can't wait for time alone to sink back in to the story. There are LOTS of heated moments. The characters are fully developed and man, that Maurice was something else! So was Denise. Shawna is every man's worst nightmare. ICK! Then you had Blanche. lol. I enjoyed the way Weber incorporated the friend's situations together and the book is filled with many laugh out loud moments. Weber paints a vivid picture of what can happen when you get involved with people you hardly know. The bond Kevin, Tyrone & Antoine share is strong and although tested to the limit at times, the brothas have each other's backs. I highly recommend Lookin' for Luv, but don't read it at night it you have to go to work the next day. It will have you up. CLB.
