Rating: Summary: A Worthy Sequel to Pride and Prejudice Review: What a pity that Jane Austen only wrote six novels - and what a pleasure to read Diana Birchall's excellent sequel! Birchall avoids the pitfalls of Regency Romance, turning out witty dialog and a deft plot that Austen herself might have been proud to write. Her portrayal of Lydia Wickham is as good as any of Austen's characters-we-love-to-hate, and her daughter Bettina is one of those rare and wonderful fictional creatures, a thoroughly bad woman who gets away with it.
Janeites take notice: Birchall is the best of the lot when it comes to adding to the Austen canon.
