Rating: Summary: An uplifting tale of one man's redemption. Review: There's a big distance between an alcoholic dandy from the city, with too much money and too little ambition, and a cowboy that's a good hand on a ranch. But that is the journey that Bert Tilden, nicknamed the Corpse by his decadent city friends, decides to attempt.Accidentally lost on the prairie, Tilden stumbles into a cowboy camp. The skills and values that he finds there awaken him to a whole new world. Tales of a beautiful and uncatchable wild black stallion raise the determination in his mind and heart to be the one to capture the legendary horse. This is the story of one man's internal odyssey, and of his quest for a horse - and love. But the journey turns out to be far more important than the goal. Of course, the story is told in Will James' inimitable Western prairie jargon, giving it the ring of the wide open spaces. You can almost smell the sagebrush. Wonderful.
