Summary: Down to Earth
Review: The title caught my eye because I currently live in SE Ohio in Coal country. The book kept me hooked with its REAL cast of characters that tell it like it is. I think anybody who has ever experienced small town life can relate to this book in some manner. I thoroughtly enjoyed the read and found many of the stories (especially the high school ones) extremely funny.

Summary: Just Like Home
Review: Though I grew up in a large, industrial, midwest city, Drayer's characters hit home with me. The "bully," the "fat kid," the "smart kid," the "druggies," the "quiet one." They're all here to help you re-live your salad days.

Drayer is only the second author I know of (besides Sherwood Anderson) who has mastered the art of making a setting the main character of a great novel. This book was written to be classic.
