Rating: Summary: A real sizzler, all right! Review: The erotic novel set in France, during the 19th century reflects the writing style of French libertine literature. It contains an arousing monologue by a young handsome youth who is forced to flee from Paris with his promiscuous mother due to financial exploits of his father. They arrive at the convent of Ste. Claire, where the residents engage in the usual potpourri of activities (orgies, anal sex, threesomes, you name it!). They indulge in these pursuits with delight and never for a moment is there guilt, abuse or obsessive pursuit of maidenheads. The author has the talent of being able to describe the most blatant sex acts with a delicacy and finesse that leave the reader breathless. Various characters in the story provide richly detailed descriptions of their own erotic exploits through narratives. Madame d'Ermonville tells us how she is paired up with a handsome young monk when her middle-age, skirt chasing husband fails to rise to the occasion. Scenes are lush and imaginative. Not only is the sex engrossing and nearly continuous, but the writing is excellent. It is a skillful, unobtrusive prose that rolls smoothly past with never a snag. Sacred Passions is a gentle but haunting novel, an arousing and captivating story whose pages pass by all too rapidly. Truly a delightful book!
