Rating: Summary: A Spy Story Review: The title of this book, Rapid Fire, doesn't do it justice. Neither does the cover. But inside is one of the best spy stories I've ever read. The plot is that a high ranking officer in Iraqi military intelligence is willing to defect to the United States. The trick, and really tough one it is, is to get the man out of the country alive while virtually all of Saddam Hussein's military establishment is hunting for him. The trek takes the U.S. Leopard Team 1 across the trackless Iraqi desert toward the Persian Gulf where high speed boats will take them to an American naval task force. There is much intrigue behind the scenes where a French Intel officer, among others, attempt to intercept the escaping Iraqi and the American team. The stakes are high and the action is non-stop. I love cerebral plots and this one has it all.
