Review: The author brings his experiences of growing up on Lake Ontario & of spending 22 years at West Point to this fast-moving epic of the founding of a beautiful upstate NY area. He traces the growth from the late 1700's to the end of the 19th century in a manner similiar to James Mitchner's "The Source." It is very difficult to put this book down as one learns more and more about what is quite possibly one of the best kept secrets of NYS. I found the book to be most interesting and informative. I look forward to the next book by Mr. Firstone. Keep up the good work!
