Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A touching tribute to days gone by
Review: Here is a wonderful read for those who enjoy books with pathos and heart. The author does an excellent job of recreating a childhood in Brooklyn spent playing baseball and learning life lessons from those around him, particularly his father. Each chapter carries the reader away to a simpler time, seen through the eyes of a young, likable narrator. Jack Bilello's writing is lovely and descriptive, the unique cast of characters facinates throughout, and the book moves along at a brisk pace.

This is good, old-fashioned story-telling, the kind that is sorely lacking today. I heartily recommend this fine book.
