Review: A hilarious, deceptively light-hearted story that's a pleasure to read. The main characters are saucy, well-drawn, and ultimately quite endearing. If you think your family is insanely annoying, your job sucks, or your love life is a joke, just take a look Claire's predicaments.

Summary: Too good to pass up!!!
Review: I'm surprised I hadn't heard much about this book before. I had always seen it at my local library and the pink cover and picture with a girl snarling out the window at her mother was too difficult to avoid---it's obvious that most of us will be able to identify with this character!
Claire's mom comes to visit out of nowhere and decides to stay, uninvited, on her couch. Claire is less than thrilled because her life is a mess already: She recently had been broken up with by the *perfect* man, she hates her job, she has no friends to speak of, and she and her mom clearly have issues. Her mother nitpicks incessantly, leaves personal and highly private notes with Claire's secretary, and still can't accept the fact that her other daughter Stephanie, is a lesbian, even though everyone else has.
Can she survive a week or two with this woman staying on her couch without strangling her?
Wendy French's quick wit and fun dialogue made me want to read more! It was a fun read with realistic characters that you will remember!

Review: love the book, however, I just want to shake the mother. I guess its because she reminds me so much of my own mom, which I couldn't stand up to either. At times you are yelling at the characters other time laughing. good book for a weekend read.

Review: Loved this book! It had me laughing out loud! The author knows how to use sarcasm so I could definitely relate to how the main character was feeling! She has great one-liners and descriptions that I wish *I* would have thought of! Can't wait to read her next book!

Summary: sMothering for the young crowd
Review: This book did not have a plot but it did have a theme - whine about my life. I checked it out of the library and am glad that I did not have to pay for it, as I wound up speed reading just to see if it ever came up with a plot other than introducing a bunch of loser characters. This is a definite read if you want to hold a pity party and need company but don't have any friends.

Review: This book is a quick read full of sharp wit and recognizable issues that face today's young woman. It's not just fluff, though,and that makes it more than the typical "chick" book. For a first book it is remarkable. I look forward to future publications by this young author!

Review: This book is full of laughs from the first page until you read the last sentence. Others have posted good reviews about the plot, characters, yadayadayada....so I won't duplicate what has already been said.
I will tell you that Ms. French is my "new" favorite author and I can't wait to read what she's got in store for her readers next!!

Summary: Hilarious! Laugh out loud funny!....
Review: This novel is so funny, the author has a great way of being sarcastic and witty. I enjoyed the descriptions of people and several times I laughed at loud and read passages to my husband.I recommended this book to my own mother and she loved it too. What a great mothers day gift to give you own mom, something that will make her chuckle. I look forward to Wendy French's next novel, this author is great!
