Summary: A Negative View of Lord of the Flies by William Golding
Review: I felt this book was very well written. However, the way Golding wrote it made it very difficult to get into, and also it was so wordy that I needed to re-read portions of it because I missed some very important details the first time through. Also, I felt that Golding was overly visual and made parts of the book very gory, unnecessarily. I think the book would have been more enjoyable to a wider range of people if it weren't so sanguinary. I would not recommend this book to most people, unless they express an intense interest in human/animal nature or symbolism.

Summary: Lord of the Flies: A Great Novel
Review: The Lord of the Flies is a novel about a large group of boys, ranging from the ages 4 to 14 (approximately), being stranded on a tropical island after a plane crash. A boy named Ralph is then choosen as their leader. They must find their own food on this island, by hunting wild boars, gathering it from trees, and the ocean. This book is mainly about Ralph, his friend Piggy and his group of hunters. However Ralph has many problems trying to keep order and control over the large group of boys, and once missed their chance of being rescued.
This is one of the best novels that I have read in many years. I love this book, because the author, William Golding, gives very good descriptions and because of this, you feel like you're actually in the adventure. You can picture the surroundings easily in your head. Take this quote for an example, "The shore was fledged with palm trees. These stood or leaned or reclined against the light and their green feathers were a hundred feet up in the air."
My other reason why I liked this book, is the author's description allows you to feel the character's emotions and how they physically feel. You can easily tell how much trouble or chaos the characters have been through. Such as this quote, "Jack stood there, streaming with sweat, streaked with brown earth, stained by all the vicissitudes of a day's hunting. Swearing, he turned off the trail..."
My most favorite part of this story is this quote, "You could see the damp spot where each flake died, then you could mark the first flake that lay down without melting and watch the whole ground turn white." The reason why I like this quote is, it reminds me of the time I first saw and enjoyed snow.

Summary: READ THIS BOOK IT IS INCREDIBLE
Review: William Golding's novel, Lord of the Flies, is a story of details, adventure, and conflict. William Golding uses his excellent skills of being able to switch looks that he creates on characters by using a hefty amount of details. The details provide readers with the feelings of other characters. When I read books, I enjoy books that have plenty of details that make your reading more vivid in your imagination and allow you to feel as if you are in the story too. I like how Golding creates different adventures inside one big adventure to make the novel have more excitement and more creativity. William Golding is known for his outstanding conflicts in his stories. His books always have more conflicts than others because his are more enjoyable. For instance William has a conflict between the setting and a conflict between the characters. Most authors just have conflict in the characters. I enjoyed this book more than most books and that is why I recommend you to read this. If you enjoy action and like plenty of details then this is the book for you.
