Summary: I can see why this was self-published
Review: I read this book because Scuba Radio (www.scubaradio.com) had the author on and it sounded good. It is poorly written, with cardboard characters and little to no suspense as to how the plot will turn out. You try to care about the main character, who is marginally more filled-out than the others, but he is still very two-dimensional, and you never really manage it. The only interesting thing about this book is the insight it supposedly gives into the world of working commercial divers. (I say "supposedly" because I don't have any other knowledge by which to judge how true it is.) The author did do pro diving so I guess he knows.

When I looked to see who had paid money to publish this amateurish book, I realized that it was a self-publishing house. I guess he sold one copy, to me, but I'll be surprised if Tom Clancy has anything to worry about any time soon.
