Rating: Summary: A COLLECTORS ITEM !!! Review: ...Set in the 1700's in the early pioneering days of the wild wild west it tells a beautiful love story bewteen a white woman and a true native Warrior woman. What i found interesting is that in the Lakota belief system lesbians are held in esteem not shunted and cast out is it was on our society. In fact racism and prejudice are non existant and woman are treated with respect... I was sorry when i came to the ending. I wanted more and i can only hope D Jordan Redhawk keeps writing. ...
Rating: Summary: Refreshing Review: Even finding a book on Native American women and their lives can be a rarity, but finding one of the high quality of this book is an even greater rarity. This novel was so good that I gave it to my partner of 31 years for our anniversary. Needless to say, she loved it as much as I do. Set in the 1700's the novel successfully explores the culture of the Lakota Sioux. The author also, just as skillfully, shows the white people's view of things. All of this is combined with a beautiful love story. The book is well written, nice pacing, and with characters that I came to care about deeply. I am anxious for Ms. Redhawk to oblige us with more novels that involve Native American life and characters.
Rating: Summary: A well researched and original Uber Review: Excellent and well researched 'uber' book This book comes in a now long line of 'uber-Xena' fiction. This is a well-written story about Anpo, a Lakota native American and her growing love for Kathlin, a white captive. D. Jordan Redhawk developed a stong, cliche-free plot in an superbly fluid style. This is completed by vivid, well-researched details on the Lakota culture. A very good read indeed.
Rating: Summary: This book is awesome Review: I have read this book 4 times since I got it in May 2001. I absolutely love it and would recomend it to everyone. It's a wonderful read and the emotions are strong and you just fall in love with the characters and what is happening in there lives. This author is wonderful and captures the essence of the Lakota in this story.
Rating: Summary: It makes you want to go live with the Lakota Review: It is a look into the lives of the Lakota Indian tribe. They are a beautiful and innocent people. One child's destiny leads her to be trained as a warrior. The warrior's destiny is linked to a white buffalo and a strange woman with pale skin and golden hair. It is a story of true love, honor and integrity. It is also a story of sadness and hurt. It will make you cry, but you will enjoy every minute of it! (Not to mention that some of the first part had me laughing out loud) It is a love story between two wonderful people who just happen to both be women. And if that makes it a "lesbian romance" then I guess that's what you would call it. But it is NOTHING like any "lesbian romance" you ever read, I guarantee it! It is mostly a story about a people (the Lakota). If you're looking for a story with steamy sex, this is not the book for you. But if you are looking for a wonderful love story, look no further.
Rating: Summary: Only one word - Awesome Review: Knowing the writer doesn't always mean that you like their work. Well, Redhawk has surprised me yet again with this fantastic tale. BUY IT! READ IT! THEN READ IT AGAIN!
