Summary: Predictable and Anti-climatic
Review: I agree full-heartedly with teekay62 and Sam C. Ogden. This novel lacks imagination in the fact that J. Patterson constantly describes characters by likening them to other characters (i.e. Kevin Costner in The Bodyguard if I remember correctly).

I've read several of his other books and have seen "Along Came a Spider" and "Kiss the Girls". No comparison with this one. He builds up the plot and you expect large surprises, but none come.

Summary: Alex Cross is the Man!
Review: I decided to skip the first two Alex Cross novels, (Kiss the Girls & Along Came a Spider) only because I regrettably saw the first two in movie form.

Jack and Jill was a solid book filled with mind twists and a wide range of emtional moments. Just when you think you have figured it all out, guess again. I loved this book from the beginning to the end. I will continue to read the rest of the Alex Cross Books.

If you are trying to decide if this is for you, I say read it and you will love it too!

Summary: Jack and Jill Spend Too Much Time On The Hill
Review: I was disppointed. The first Alex Cross Novel I read was "The Big Bad Wolfe". I loved it. It was action-packed and the short chapters left you wanting more. A quick, fun, easy read. So, I thought I'd try the other 8 novels in the series. Having seen "Kiss the Girls" and "Along Came a Spider" so many times as a movie, I thought I'd start with the third installment. I read 150 pages of "Jack and Jill" and still was not into it. I put it down and went on with life. A year later, I picked it up again, and again read 150 + pages and still nothing. It seemed like there was too much side story or detail. I liked "The Big Bad Wolfe" because it didn't have all that. I wanted to read the earlier novels to get any details or backstory I missed, but this was too much. And it seemed like Patterson was just using up pages.

I hope to try another earlier Alex Cross Novel, maybe "Cat and Mouse", but I'm done trying this one. I may eventually try the first two as well. I will definately be looking for "London Bridges" this Fall. I'm thinking I just picked a slower, more detailed Alex Cross and most are not like this.

Summary: An engaging, intense novel full of white knuckle suspense
Review: I'm reading the Alex Cross series in order, and I must say that I think Patterson gets better with every story. In this story, Alex Cross is confronted with two separate killers, one murdering children near his school and another committing political assassinations aiming ultimately at the President. Both of these investigations are handled deftly, with good police work, solid relationships, and very evil villains. As the story unfolds, we meet Christine Johnson who will later become the love interest of Alex (in future books). Their interplay is dynamic and interesting, and the dialog and descriptions and crisp and keep you racing along to a shattering conclusion.

This is my 3rd James Patterson novel, and I must say that he's now one of my favorite authors. You get a real sense of getting to know Alex Cross, who is a very likeable, if driven, character. You get to see him as both the brilliant detective and as the loving father and family man.

This book introduces some very smart, very evil criminals and the crimes that they perpetrate keep you guessing up to the very end of this book.

Read this book, but do yourself a favor and read the entire Alex Cross series in order (starting with 'Along Came a Spider' and continuing with 'Kiss the Girls'). You'll be glad you did. I can't wait for 'Cat and Mouse'...

Summary: Another winner...
Review: Jack & Jill proves that James Patterson's previous success with the Alex Cross books are not flukes. Patterson is a great writer and Cross is a fun character.

Trying to solve two crimes at once and see if they are in any way related- is no sweat for Alex Cross! With two story lines going on at once, you won't be able to put this book down. There's no shortage of suspense or excitement. And the ending is always the best part.

If you have never read James Patterson and you enjoy crime thrillers, you need to give him a try!

Summary: Descent begins
Review: Once again, Detective Alex Cross is the main character in another James Patterson book. As usual, the story is very fast-paced, with quick, short chapters. Patterson knows how to build tension and accomplish an efficient thriller. This time, Cross and his team have to face two simultaneous enemies: the first, a pair of loose-cannon killers, acting in the high-society and political circles in Washington, D.C.; the other, an insane killer murdering innocent children.

"Jack and Jill" is not as good as the previous two books in the Cross series; although Alex Cross is less superhero-like and more humnan in this third installment, the two parallel stories are confusing, and Patterson was not able to create villains and minor characters as well developed as the ones he created in "Along came a spider" and "Kiss the girls".

I understand that "Jack and Jill" is somewhat a milestone in the Alex Cross series. From now on, the books are really a step down the ladder.

Grade 8.0/10

Summary: JACK & JILL ARE THE REAL DEAL.........
Review: This book is great. The words to describe it are: Scary, Terrific, Outstanding. It is really two books in one. There are two or more killers they are trying to catch and they are killing two different kinds of people. One is children being killed and the other is political people. Jack and Jill, who are they???????? Can they be found before more people are killed? The person killing the children. Is it _________? Surprise it may not be. This will hold you attention from the first page till the very surprising ending. Alex Cross is good as usual. This it the third Patterson book I have read and am looking forward to the next one. If you like a good mystery you can't go wrong here.

Summary: WOW
Review: This book was very exciting and hard to put down. Since I have been reading the Alex Cross series out of sequence, this book gave me another piece to the puzzle.

The two plots in this book are well thought-out.

Patterson does a great job in character development.

This book presents Alex Cross in a much higher professional level compared to the other novels. He appears very focused on performing his job.

Summary: Good Read
Review: This is one of Patterson's best books I have read so far. The characters are well described and I feel I get to know them very well. But he uses characterers from previous books and it might be helpful to start reading his earlier books first. But it is of course not necessary. I don't read his books like that. The story is great as well. It was a real pageturner, keeping me in suspense from start to finish. I highly recommend this.

Summary: FAST PACED EXCITING READING
Review: THIS IS THE THIRD BOOK IN THE ALEX CROSS NOVELS. IT IS VERY GOOD AND FAST PACED. ALL THROUGH, IT DID TAKE ME AWHILE TO GET DONE WITH THE FIRST FEW CHAPTERS. BUT AS SOON AS I DID I COULD NOT PUT THE BOOK DOWN! READ ALONG CAME A SPIDER THEN KISS THE GIRLS BEFORE YOU READ THIS BOOK. EVERYTHING WILL THEN MAKE SENSE. EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS BOOK.
