Rating: Summary: Lifelong friends on opposite sides of the law Review: "Catlow", by Louis L'Amour, is a story about two lifelong friends that took different paths. Bijah Catlow sided with outlaws and Ben Cowan sided with the law. Both work for opposing motives, but still respect each other. Catlow plans to lead a band of outlaws into Mexico to steal a hoard of gold and silver bullion, and Cowan does his part to make sure that it doesn't happen. This book has action, gunfights, vivid descriptions of the landscapes, suspense, and some romance. Those familiar with Louis L'Amour's writing will find that this book meets their expectations in high quality western stories that they have come to know.

Rating: Summary: Just Average for Louis Lamour's standard. Review: I admit it is hard to go wrong with such and awesome writer as Louis Lamour, and I wouldn't even say that you are wrong with this book, but in comparison to his much greater works, you could say that you should save Catlow for some other day. It is a decent exposition of two good friends who gravitate to opposite ends of the law, which makes it interesting, and I must say it did have a good ending. But overall, it seemed to go by pretty slowly and dull at times.
Rating: Summary: A Gem Review: I've seen whre some fine CATLOW a little lacking in the L'amour cannon, but I love this book. It's a great story of friendship, survival, and a big heist. Loved every page! Bijah Catlow, to me, is the hero od this book. For some reason I am constantly reminde dof the charater Dutch (played by Ernest Bornine) in Sam Peckinpah's THE WILD BUNCH. I think it's Catlow's jovial disposition. At any rate, for any fan of a great Western, CATLOW should fill the order without a hitch.
