Summary: No Rochambeau necessary--you should read this book!
Review: Sarah Peterson was only three years old when she saw her father, a CIA agent, murdered in front of her eyes. She grew up perplexed by the mystery of his death, determined to find the real cause and the real killers. That led her to a career as a Secret Service agent where she has emerged as one of the best in the business.

In recognition of her abilities, she is appointed to be the head of security for Secretary of State. Jack Montgomery is a devious man, acting in the shadows of legality, determined to carry out his own agenda, regardless of what the president or anyone else thinks. Peterson uncovers his Machiavellian misdeeds as part of her efforts to protect him, thus putting her own life in jeopardy.

Steve Samuel has written an interesting, if somewhat far-fetched, story for his debut novel. He keeps things moving at a steady pace, and I kept eagerly turning the pages. Overall, it's a solid political thriller from this lawyer-turned-author. I look forward to reading more from him in the future.

Summary: Prescient
Review: Shrewd analysis of a world crisis condition, details and intrigue, and good characters make this one a book to read. His assessment of political plausibility is realistic.

Summary: An Outstanding New Author!
Review: Steve Samuel is one of the new authors that I have read this year and enjoyed. Sarah Peterson witnesses her father's killing as a child. She grows up to be an elite member of the Secret Service. She draws the assignmant to guard the Secretary of State Jack Montgomery. After she tape records one of his meetings she discovers that he is an evil person. Montgomery kidnaps the daughter of a billionaire. Through this effort we are introduced to Billionaire Sam Baldwin. You also get to meet his bodyguard Hank Savage. Add to that an interesting cast of backup characters. The action in this book is nonstop. This book was truly hard to put down. I hope Steve Samuel writes many more books after reading his first one. Good job.

Summary: You will like this heroine
Review: This novel kept me interested from the start. The main reason for this is the heroine, a federal agent. She is the type of character you can see having a recurring role in future books. At least I hope she does. A strong, powerful woman in a male dominated environment is sometimes a good thing. When is the sequel coming out?
