Summary: Plentiful in fresh metaphors, it's a treat!
Review: I have shared this book with many of my friends, as a woman-to-woman gift. I bought it back in 1995 and have never lent out my own copy. I would not wish to lose it and the joy of re-reading it.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Turgid & Unrewarding
Review: Mosby is a poet, and there are a few nice turns of speech, but the novel is ridiculous. The prose style is labored to the point of exasperation; the plot lacks direction; the characters are romance-novel farcical. The few attempts to create a real sense of time and place one are unconvincing. Very little to recommend about this one.

Summary: Betrayed
Review: Mosely has here created wonderful, complete, very full characters, but I felt completely betrayed by the plot. Every man Vienna loved dies, and in the end she dies, and her house burns down, slightly reminiscent of "Rebecca". The author is felt pulling the heart-strings with a sharp tug. I could see Elliot's death coming a mile away. And far, far too many metaphors and similes. Good writing. Horrible plot.
