Rating: Summary: Excellent !!! Review: Lil Mama's Rules is the kind of book that should be made into a movie. This book is definitely a page turner and almost impossible to put down. The leading lady is strong but vunerable, funny but solemn, kind but harsh at times, In short she is an evolutionary African-American female that has learned many of life's lessons through first-hand experience. This book forces the reader to take a look at her own life and make some changes, fast! I can't review this book without noting that I found myself laughing out loud from the bold and witty antics of the characters. Terry, you're my girl and everything, but their is another contemporary African American woman writer out there who needs some attention. Somebody give Sheneska her props, please, ie. a movie deal for Lil'Mama and Caught up in the Rapture.
Rating: Summary: Ok Review: This was one of the many books I read when I worked at a library in high school. Pretty interesting read. Reminded me of several other books of it's type, although I will say, that due to the lifestyle of the main character, I thought the situation she has to deal with was realistic and added something to the story. It's ok, but I've read better.
Rating: Summary: dissapointed Review: To start off with, this is the first book that I've read by Sheneska Jackson. I was skimming through the shelves of the book store and saw the binding, it looked interesting. Madison Maguire refuses to be attached to any one man and be suckered into domestic chores until a past romance walks back into her life and a twist of fate reveals to her the purpose God gave her to living on earth. Of the four books I picked out at the bookstore I read this one first. It looked happy and something I could read in a day or so. The beginning of the book was full of attitude and spunk although as the book was rolling to an end it seemed to drag out and it was a little boring and hokey. I was around chapter 14 that I began to lose interest in the book and just wanted it to be over. Jackson did a great job in making the characters become alive and real. The book was okay, but if you're in for something to go down on the favorites list, I wouldn't recommend it. It's just a good book to pass the time if you don't have much else to do.
