Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Beautifuly written and haunting
Review: In this beautifully written evocation of a small desert town in California, Troyer successfully manages to find the profound in the carefully observed details of the mundane. The characterizations and depth of emotion is simply amazing. Troyer and this book reminds me of Graham Greene. Despite on one level its simplicity, the cumilative effect is as complex as the internal truths in everybody in everytown. A fantastic read. Definitely recommended. Why is this guy not published???

Summary: Finally, a new novelist who knows what he's doing
Review: Troyer writes with confidence, which means he writes well and doesn't feel the need to show off. Also, you get the feeling he has seen a lot of different people and knows how they think.
