Rating: Summary: Lyricism and rich storytelling. . . Review: I love this book. Cooley's extraordinary subjects--Patty Hearst, Helen Keller, Adele Hugo, just to name a few--are like treasures you find in a trunk in the attic, unexpected, rich with memory and story. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Dull and Dry, like Helen Hunt's Hair Review: Miss Woman went wild on history, speaking her poems through some pretty exotic characters. But anyone who reads "People" magazine and has a library card already knows more than can be gleaned within these pages. No imagination surfaces in the poems--instead we get the sort of factoids that appear in the Sunday newspaper--and in this instance, someone's put their greasy fingers all over the good parts. I found the writing dry, dry, dry like a ole nun's cavities--you could hear the wind whistling through whole sections. Where's the passion, darling?
Rating: Summary: not too thrilling Review: this is very cold poetry, it can have elegance, but it's not so imaginative or original
