Rating: Summary: The blurb I would've given SUFFER THE FLESH Review: I didn't know whether to jerk off or throw up! Highly recommended.Matthew Warner author of THE ORGAN DONOR
Rating: Summary: sick, twisted, and thought provoking Review: I just finished reading this book and it's almost midnight. If I was a female, I think that this book would give me nightmares - in fact, it still may. The book is brutal to say the least; there were definitely several parts where I caught myself grimacing at what the women in the story were being subjected to, wanting to inflict some pain upon the men torturing them. I am giving this book five stars for several reasons, the first being what I described above. From the first few pages, the characters seem very real, and throughout the book, I really felt as if I were in Zoey's head, could almost feel the hatred the women had for James and the other captors. Another reason that I liked the book is that the narrative drive was very strong. No matter how much blood was leaking from where or how much I wanted to hide my eyes, I was compelled to peak through my fingers and read on. I must admit, I am a pretty jaded reader and writer of horror, etc. and I have been called a sick puppy many times over. It's really nice to still be able to get that sense of dread and disgust from reading a book, at least once in awhile. I wouldn't want to read a book like this every day, but it is a real treat to have those hidden emotions tickled every now and then with something this gruesome. At the same time, the book really made me evaluate how much I cherish the women in my life and how I would feel if I found them subjected to such conditions. A gut-wrenching little read, "Suffer the Flesh" is definitely not for those with a weak stomach, for pre-meal reading, or for anyone considering a weight-loss plan.
Rating: Summary: Not my Cup of Tea Review: There is really nothing to recommend this novel, if you can call it that, unless you like to read about pointless rapes and torture over, and over, and over again. The shock value wears off rather fast and the brutal details become rather tedious and mind numbing. I guess if you're into that sort of thing this book is for you. If you like at least a little meaning to what you read, skip it.
