Summary: A School Without Class
Review: Set in the very real, very familiar town of Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York, the exclusive Stonecroft School is holding its 20th Anniversary Reunion.

An eclectic cast of characters will be attending, one of whom is a murderer. Each comes with an agenda and with the exception of one character, all are possible suspects.

Alison, the hateful brat who delighted in ridiculing her classmates. When she is found dead in her swimming pool, it is impossible to feel sorry for her and one thinks she finally got the come uppance that was long overdue.

Laura - the stereotypical Golden Girl. Blond and blue-eyed, she delights in mocking people and is a shallow, selfish character. It is not surprising that she uses people and works closely with the hateful Alison. When she ends up missing, it is very possible that she has her own agenda as well.

Dr. Jean Sheridan, the Class Success Story. Armed with a secret past, she fears for her daughter's life, the child she placed for adoption hours after the baby's birth.

Joel - the boy Romeo who was the brunt of Alison's satircal wit. An adulterer with a shady financial past, he, too emerges as a possible suspect.

Howard/Carter - the Beatle mopped boy who was also a whipping boy for his peers. A successful playright, he exacts revenge by using his classmates as literary targets.

Gordon - the scrawny, abused child who suffered further humiliation at Stonecroft. The once browbeaten child becomes a successful television mogul in his own right. He, too has an agenda and is reliving his painful past when the duplicitious Laura uses him to further her career.

Mark - The psychiatrist who heals his own painful past by helping adolescents. The son of two callous parents who wrongfully accuse him of a tragedy he did not have any part of, he works hard through and for his patients. It is possible that he might have some insight as to who has been killing his former classmates.

Rob - Class clown, now comedian. Another whipping boy, Rob uses his bad experiences at Stonecroft, including mockery from teachers to good use. He verbally scathes his former classmates and a math teacher who humiliated him during his student days.

Good grief, since Stonecroft was such a bad experience for these folks, why the heck return for a reunion?! Add to it several former classmates died under mysterious circumstances prior to the reunion. Mark was the only likable character.

Summary: Can I only give it 5 stars?
Review: How can this book get any negative reviews? I absolutely loved it. Didn't want it to end even though I wanted to know who the Owl was. In my opinion, this is one of Ms. Clark's best. I can hardly wait for her next one.

Summary: Pleasantly surprised
Review: I used to love Mary Higgins Clark, but in the last few books she has written, the conclusion is so predictable that the storyline, even if it's appealing, is a drag because there are no exciting twists and turns. "Nighttime is My Time" is different though. While it took me awhile to get the hang of all the characters, I thoroughly enjoyed the different red herrings that were thrown in, and for the first time in a long time, I didn't have the story completely figured out before I got to the final chapters. While the ending is a bit anticlimatic, it still left me surprised, which I will give credit to MHC for. As another reviewer noted, other favorite authors have produced horrible books this past year -- John Grisham, Patricia Cornwell, James Patterson -- so to find a book that didn't leave me angry is considered a success!

Summary: Long-winded Tale
Review: It was disappointed with Mary Higgins Clark latest novel Nightime Is My Time. This was the cast of too many characters and not enough plot. By the time I finished reading it. i didn't care about who the killer was or anything else. Hopefully the next will be better.

Summary: Nighttime is a Waste of Time
Review: Too many characters, some of which had more than one name, made this book very confusing. Not only that, it was down right boring. I found myself skpping paragraphs, something I have NEVER before done with a MHC book, just to finish the thing. Such a shame, MHC used to be an auto-buy for me, but I think in the future I'll wait for the library copy.

Summary: A Good Read!
Review: There were some amazing characters in this book and I enjoyed the book immensely. It was hard to put down once I started reading. This is one of my favorite MHC books. I highly recommend it. Debbie Farmer, parenting author of 'Don't Put Lipstick on the Cat'

Summary: Finally! A Book with a Plot!
Review: If you read the reviews I have written on John Grisham's and James Patterson's latest novels, you can understand why I was thrilled to pick up a mystery novel that has a plot! I have started rejecting books by any well-known author. Publishers force them to crank out several books a year. The end result are books that have the texture of cotton candy.

"Nighttime is My Time" is not Clark's best work, but I will take it any day over the trash other authors have been spewing. The book has enough red herrings to keep you guessing. It is a quick, easy read, as well.

On the other hand, I would have liked to have seen a few more pages. There are so many characters/suspects that you need more time with each one than she provided. They needed fleshing out.

It is a good beach or bubble bath book. Not all books have to be the end all of novels. If you need to relax and mentally get away for awhile, this book will do well.

Summary: This book is fantastic!
Review: I can't believe the negative reviews I've read. This is one of Higgins Clark's finest suspenses, keeping you guessing until the end. Sure, there are lots of suspects. That's what makes it so fun trying to figure exactly who the killer is!

FIVE STARS--

Summary: Nightime is a Good Time
Review: There were some amazing characters in this book, but they weren't the main characters -- Jake, the highschool reporter; Sam, the cop; Alice, the first victim's mother and the old guy at the store. The honorees lacked flavor pretty much, but the plot was pretty good. I enjoyed the book immensely. Had the killer been someone other than who it was, made the difference in a 3-star rating and a 4-star rating. I was a bit let down by a romance that should have developed and didn't. This will make my favorite MHC list, but it won't be at the top.

Summary: Not Her Best Work
Review: I did not feel that this book was at all close to Mary Higgins Clark's best. There were too many possible candidates for The Owl, and none of them were very well drawn. I also found his motivation to be implausible for the havoc he wreaked and the number of lives he claimed. I must admit to liking some of the peripheral characters, particularly Sam, but I didn't really care for Laura or even Jean all that much. I realize the event in Jean's past was traumatic, but in 20 years she should have been able to come to grips with it better. Perhaps the next book will have characters I can relate to better. I hope so.
