Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: can get enough of bosch! connelly is an amazing writer and you will be pleased with all three of these books! a great read
Rating: Summary: Connelly and the police procedural Review: Connelly writes some of the best police procedurals if one also likes the hard boiled detective genre. The Harry Bosch novels move well, are genuinely moving at times, and contain very strong suspense elements. At the same time, the novels ring with the authenticity that procedurals require.
Rating: Summary: Great Detective Series Review: HArry Bosch is maybe the best series character in recent years. Connelly is a gifted writer who creates the most vivid portrait of LA in crime fiction outside of James Ellroy, and Connelly's work is a lot more mass-market friendly than Ellroy's, I think. Dark and powerful, yes, but not overly depressing like some of Ellroy's writing. Connelly might not be able to match Ellroy's characters, but his plots are multi-layered and complex and his dialogue sharp and real. I recommend this book to any mystery fan, although I prefer to read the single volumes just from a comfort standpoint. Wonderful writing.
Rating: Summary: This a 5-star collection. Just read it, folks. Review: I am not quite happy with Connelly for his recent works about Harry Bosch. It seems to me that after his "last coyote" and "angel's flight.", the whole Harry Bosch series is gradually going down hill. Connelly has lost his edge as his Harry Bosch lost his and both have become tasteless. But if you want to read the REALLY REALLY GOOD, IN DEPTH police/detective stories, please do not hesitate to grap this one and beyond and continue to read Connelly's whole works, because even he's becoming dandy, his writing is still better than any other so-called mystery/thriller writers in the reading market. Connelly is a larger than life writer, the real deal. I still remember that I was deeply touched and troubled by Harry Bosch's journey, even failed to keep my tears not running so uncontrolable. But Connelly has touched my heart, my better part of my soul so kindly and deeply not just once but so many times. I also remember that there are only a few writers who could do so to me. God Bless, Mr. Connelly, thanks for giving me so many wonderful moments in my life.
Rating: Summary: Three Stunning Mysteries In One! Review: Now available for the first time in a single volume edition, "The Harry Bosch Novels" brings together the first three mysteries by Michael Connelly, one of the finest writers in the detective genre. If you haven't yet read this terrific series, this book presents the perfect place to begin. These three stories can easily be read one-by-one, or all three in a row. Such is Connelly's skill that readers are unlikely to tire soon of the unfolding story of Detective Harry Bosch. This omnibus volume is a great way to start this series and will help prepare readers for the release of the 7th Bosch novel (coming in early 2002), which promises to be one of the best yet. If you're not reading Michael Connelly, you're missing one of the best authors fiction has to offer. What are you waiting for?
Rating: Summary: A Great Foundation Review: Reading the "Harry Bosch Novels" gives you a great perspective on the books that follow. While each of Connelly's books are a great read on their own, it certainly makes them more enjoyable to start from the beginning of the series for the history. I was really impressed how Connelly handled the telling of the Dollmaker case in the third book, even though chronologically it was a case Bosch was involved in prior to the first book. If you're a CSI fan, you'll really enjoy how Connelly delivers the details of the cases Bosch finds himself involved in. And if you like Nelson Demille's lead characters in Plum Island and General's Duaghter, you'll enjoy Harry Bosch who shares many of the same personal traits.

Rating: Summary: Junk! Review: So bad I couldn't finish it- and for me that's saying a lot. Harry dully plods through these books, obsessing over his past, sleeping with his co-workers, and being a stupid lone gun. I gave 2 of these books a good try, hoping I might like one of them and I was rewarded with misery and frustration.

Rating: Summary: 3 books with a great place to start series Review: The Bosch series is for anyone who likes a good police detective thriller. The story isn't as fast paced as James Pattersons - Alex Cross series, but the pace will keep you reading. The Black Echo, Black Ice, and Concrete Blonde (4 stars, 4 stars, and 5 stars, respectively) are a great compilation for starting with the Bosch Series. The first book may be a slightly predictable, but it gives good detail on the lead character. The second book builds on the first, with a lot of twists, and the third is the best of them all, a must read.
