Summary: EYES OF PREY (also known as why I love lucas Davenport)
Review: John Sandford is the best crime writer I have ever managed to find. He is my hero and this is the book that started it all for me. I was sucked into a world where Lucas Davenport ruled and fought the baddies.
'Eyes of Prey' is an excellent book and Sandford suceeds where other writers fail. He sets up excellent characters, excellent scenes and belivable crimes.
I truely love this stuff and I cant wait for another Davenport book. It's a real pity that Lucas isnt a real person. John Sandford, you have made me VERY happy

Summary: cheap writing
Review: just how many times can a writer fit in the f-word onto one page? i started to read this book and had to put it away, being disgusted at the [bad] language.

Summary: Excellent Addition to the Prey Series
Review: Like the first two novels in the series, Eyes of Prey is a fun, fast and entertaining read. Eyes of Prey is slightly better than its predecessor, Shadow Prey and shows detective Lucas Davenport at his most vulnerable. A point I've made before: the sub-plots in the Prey novels revolving around Davenport are almost as interesting as the cases and crimes he's working to solve. Sandford has done an excellent job creating and developing this character.

Summary: Best of the "prey" series
Review: Lt. Davenport meets a truly chilling antagonist. A rather sick pathologist has teamed up with a more physical sociopath on a murder spree. Lt. Davenport's political difficulties at work prove to be more than a minor distraction.

Summary: Creepiest villian since Hannibal Lector!
Review: Lucas Davenport,Sandford's unforgettable cop hero (think Dirty Harry with more intelligence) match wits with two psychopaths:one is a disfigured actor and another is handsome but twisted doctor and manipulator who has a obession with all matters of death and murder.Dr. Michael Bekker is one most sinister villians that has ever been created and this novel has nonstop action and chills!

Summary: Continued stress and sleepless nights thanks to John Sandfor
Review: Once again I found myself sitting up late to ,not read, but re-read a Sandford book. This series of books makes you get up and check that the doors are locked before you fall off to sleep. After reading this book I was thankful that I live in New Jersey and not out in Minn. where Lucas Davenport is! The author is able to flesh out the characters and make them seem real. Unlike many of todays story tellers ,where the hero is a superman that has no flaws and is not realy human, Sandford gives us a man who we know. I do not wish to give away any of the story line but suffice to say that this is a book that you will finish in one sitting. Sandford seems capable of keeping your attention and not letting it go till Lucas davenport has finished his work. I would recomend this book to anyone but you should read his earlier books so you can have a correct timeline.

Summary: ghoulish crime story that happens to be *very* good...
Review: Quite honestly I was somewhat disappointed with my first John Sandford novel ('Rules of Prey'), mostly because too much time was spent on the lead character (a police investigator), his famous love life, etc. But I saw 'Eyes of Prey' in a secondhand book shop, bought it, read it, and ... wow! Mr Sandford did a much better job with this third installment of the 'prey' series.

In 'Eyes of Prey' we still have our stud puppy Minneapolis police investigator trying to solve the murder/mutiliation of an adulterous woman. Her husband, a medical professional and substance abuser, is not a suspect but ... he *seems* to be involved. However when these horrendous events repeat themselves we are pulled into the sick world of the husband and another very curious character. Thankfully Sandford spends little time on the private life of the hero and concentrates on delivering a slick (and frighteningly believable) crime story. Lots of plot twists, scary moments, etc. And the ending (literally the last page) is terrific.

Bottom line: not for the squeamish. But this is one nightmare told with panache.

Summary: READ THE FIRST PAGE AND THEN HOLD ON!!!!!!
Review: Scary as all get out. I almost know this book will scare your pants off. I have read several of Sandford's Prey books and this is one of the best. As usual, Lucus Davenport is the hard nosed cop. Murders start happening but they don't appear to be done by the same person even though they are alike. Lucus appears to have met his match in Dr. Bekker. There are many twist and turns before it ends. The last page is quite a surprise to me. If you live by yourself and are in an older house, where the floors squeek, I would not read this at night. A must read if you like scary stories.

Summary: Who's Watching?
Review: Stephanie Becker is brutally murdered in her kitchen one morning while her husband is on a business trip. John Sandford founds his framework for Eyes of Prey on Stephanie's murder. Prey mainstay, Minneapolis Inspector Lucas Davenport is assigned to investigate the murder. While Stephanie's husband has a solid alibi, Lucas is not convinced he is without a hand in Stephanie's death. This is an exciting story of multiple murders and intricate webs of intrigue. Sandford carefully crafts this story to grab the reader early on and keep them holding on until the end. Well done!

Summary: John, how did you do it??
Review: Talk about a complcated villan! Has there ever been another completely ruled by circumstances and a bizarre chain of events like this one? I have never read about a character as completely co-dependent upon every drug imaginable. He (the villan) carrys a cigar case full of different drugs everywhere he goes. He calls it Beauty. He has a briefcase at home, also full of every drug. He calls it the Mothership. He'll use different combinations of drugs for certain moods he feels obligated to project. Often, he catches himself, and sometimes in public, "dancing a jig" This story had so much dark comedy. I was at times horrified at the villan, but good god! All these visuals Sanford forces us to get--I thought the villan was funny as hell!
