Rating: Summary: Not All That Great... Review: The book keeps you wondering what's going to happen next. Once you find out what happens, it's not exactly what was expected (in a depressing way). Rhyme and Sachs are great characters, but this book doesn't compare at all to The Bone Collector. The aviation talk bored me and the twist ending was a bit too drastic to completely grab my attention. Not enough suspense for me. Sorry Deaver, you could do much better.
Rating: Summary: Definitely gripping! Review: Although at times I found the story line a little unbelievable, this is, after all, entertainment. The book was just what I needed for a long flight to Chicago and back. I'll be buying more of Mr. Deaver.
Rating: Summary: A ""state of the art " ending Review: A very well conceived plot, a chess game between two masters, Lincoln Rhyme and the Dancer. The story is quite average until the ending which starts with a outstanding master twist, skyrocketing the tension to a point that instead of reading I was just sort of skimming, the pages of my book turned like a whirlpool without interruption, my whole world focused on the plot and it was so gripping that I forgot about my surroundings. Once again, thank you for the fun Mr. Deaver, I had a very good time enjoying your work and that what it counts for me as a reader.
Rating: Summary: my personal thrill ride of the year Review: I doubt I will read anything soon that will keep me up as long as this book did. Read in two nights, I enjoyed it even more than the first in the series, which has never happened to me before! Keep going, Jeffrey! You just keep getting better!
Rating: Summary: Gripping! Review: Having read this book last year, I decided to read it again and loved it more the second time around. The relationship between Sachs and Rhyme is good. The 'Steven "soldier"' character is compelling - I just love him! Where was Thom (Rhyme's personal assistant) in the film, "The Bone Collector"? Like the other reviewers, you have to read the first Lincoln Rhyme novel - so buy it and ENJOY!
Rating: Summary: It's a page turner, but........ Review: Overall a very good book that definitely keeps your attention, but almost too many twists & turns, and he gets a bit technical......It is worth reading, though.....
Rating: Summary: Lame Continuation of the Bone Collector Review: I truly despied this book. The writing was great. I will the author that much but it just went on and on and on. The story was going NOWHERE! I was so excited to get a book that continued one of my favorite books last year- The Bone Collector. This truly was a waste of my time. I finished it just so I could I have a closure to this book.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic, clear Deaver Review: I read my first Deaver book "The Bone Collector" and this book is just as thrilling. I read a lot of books and it has been a while since I was surprised by the plot twists and surprise endings. Deaver manages to surprise me every time.
Rating: Summary: guilty pleasure Review: I have to admit I enjoy reading this book, like I enjoy watching a Michael Bay movie. Deaver's writing is powerful enough to punch you through the book, I would have LOVED the book if he let-go of some of his unnecessary "twists". If he dares to be less commercial he has the chops to become one of the bests in contempory fiction.
Rating: Summary: JANICE FROM NORTH OF BOSTON , MA-- ANOTHER MUST READ Review: I LOVE THE WAY DEAVER KEPT THE MAIN PEOPLE IN HIS STORIES, ANOTHER TURN PAGER, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT ! MAKE SURE YOU READ THE BONE COLLECTOR FIRST ! I HOPE HE KEEPS ALL THE MAIN PEOPLE IN HIS NEXT BOOK, WHAT A GREAT BOOK FOR A WINTER NIGHT OR ANY TIME- HE KEEPS UP THE GRAND PLOTS! A BOOK YOU CAN PUT DOWN! ~JANICE
