Rating: Summary: No Patricia Cornwell Review: This book was a big disappointment to me. I thought it would be a major suspense novel a la Patricia Cornwell, but it wasn't even close. The characters were all portrayed stereotypically and the dialogue just didn't flow; in fact, it was almost juvenile. Any attempts at humor just fell flat. This is the only novel by Catherine Coulter I've read and I would not be inclined to read another.
Rating: Summary: Not a good read Review: This was my first Coulter novel and it will be my last. The dialog was forced, the plot silly, and the characters were never fully developed. Sorry.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Fan Review: I have read all of Coulter's books and usually enjoy them thoroughly (at least 4 stars). This book however was a huge disappointment. The characters were never fully developed. There would be a hint of typcial Coulter humor/ personality and then it would fall through. I'm still a Coulter fan but this book did not live up to her standards.
Rating: Summary: Boring Bodice-Ripper! Review: This trite novel was as closer to a romantic bodice-ripper than a mystery story. The plot was ridiculous, the dialog insipid, and it was a waste of my money!!! I liked her other efforts that featured Savitch and Sherlock, but this was a major yawn and a major disappointment.
Rating: Summary: Chills, thrills, heartbreak and redemption Review: I was intrigued by the speech writer background -- Becca engaged this reader's interest and sympathy from the start. The story rips along (sorry) at a wonderful brisk pace, with plenty of twists, turns and surprises. The heroine's grief is genuinely touching. Loved this author, love this book--I'm glad I brought it along for company on a recent long plane flight!
Rating: Summary: RIPTIDE Review: A VERY BAD AND BORING READ. A NOVEL,YES, BUT STRECHES CREDIBILTYTO THE MAX. MY FIRST (AND LAST)WITH THIS AUTHOR.
Rating: Summary: Ok...Not Terrific Review: A couple of friends raved about this book, so maybe my expectations were too high but I found it just ok. I have read most of Ms. Coulters other books as well and enjoyed most of them. The the start of the story, the heroine, Becca, is being stalked by a phone stalker. She notifies the police and they tap her phone. Of course, the stalker never calls then and the police write her off as an attention grabbing nut. The minute they cancel the tap, the calls resume. Becca apparently has never heard of tape recorders to record this guys calls & prove to the police she is being stalked, I guess. THAT bugged me from the beginning. Sherlock and Savich are back with their new sidekick Sean and the brightest part of the story. Always good to see them. Everyone else is pretty much "by the formula" and turns out to be EXACTLY what you think they are. Dull, dull reading that makes. Not a terrible book, but could have been alot better. If this is your first book by Ms. Coulter, read The Maze first.
Rating: Summary: A must read Review: I have only read a few books from this author but I have never been disappointed. Becca is a woman who has her own mind and does not need a man to complete her life but wants one to compliment it. I also enjoyed the way the characters from the maze were intertwined with the story. Hopefully we will read more about Adam and Becca if futured books.
Rating: Summary: worst book ever Review: I have read some other books by this author and found them to be ok, but this may be the worst book ever written! The characters, story line, and dialogue were terrible and extremely unbelievable. Don't bother picking this up. It stinks!
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK WAS JUST "BEYOND" AWLFUL Review: THIS IS ACTUALLY THE 3RD CATHERINE COULTER BOOK I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO READ. AND I MUST SAY I WAS NOT DISSAPPOINTED, IT WAS EXACTLY WHAT I EXPECTED. HOW CAN A PERSON WITH EVEN MODERATE INTELLIGENCE FALL FOR THE PLOT AND STORYLINE OF THIS BOOK. ANOTHER THING THAT WAS JUST "TOO" ANNOYING, IS MS COULTER'S REPETITIVE USE OF ADVERBS IN ALL 3 OF THE BOOKS I HAVE READ. FOR SOME REASON, SHE CANNOT GET THROUGH A CHAPTER WITHOUT SOMETHING BEING "TOO" SOMETHING, "OVER" ANYTHING, AND "BEYOND" EVERYTHING. AND WHAT IS WITH THE MALE LEAD IN THIS BOOK? IF HE IS SUCH A SMART MAN AND SO VALUABLE TO THE FBI AND THE CIA, THEN WHY DOES HE SOUND LIKE A COMPLETE MORON. THE MAN IS SUPPOSE TO BE A SECURITY CONSULTANT FOR THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, AND IF I LISTENED TO HIS DIALOG FOR MORE THAN 10 MINUTES, I WOULDNT TRUST HIM TO HAVE THE INTELLIGENCE TO INSTALL MY HOME SECURITY SYSTEM. I FOUND THAT I COULD NOT STOP READING THE BOOK, MUCH LIKE NOT BEING ABLE TO TURN AWAY FROM A TRAIN WRECK, JUST BECAUSE I WANTED TO SEE HOW THESE STUPID CHARACTERS WERE ABLE TO CROSS THE STREET, LET ALONE SOLVE A CASE. SO HERE IS MY TAKE ON THIS BOOK: THE PLOT IS "TOO" ABSURD TO BE FOLLOWED CLOSELY, MUCH LESS BELIEVED. AND THE CHARACTERS ARE "BEYOND" RIDICULOUS, TO THE POINT OF BEING LAUGHABLE. MY ADVICE TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT READ THIS BOOK IS "SAVE YOUR MONEY".
