Review: The Jekyl Island Club was my first exposure to Monahan and probably not my last. Monahan's book, set in the late 18oo's pits a crafty, columbo-like cop against an overconfident crew of money men to solve a murder on Jekyl Island. This is a page-turning "historical murder mystery" you shouldn't miss.

Review: The Rich and Famous of the late 1800's have a dead body show up at the their exclusive private club (an island of the Georgia coast). The influential members of the club try and convince the local sherrif, John le Brun, that this is a case of a hunting accident. But the grizzled civil war vetern refuses to give in to the pressure and persuses the case as if it were a murder. Life gets even more sticky for the fat cats when more murders follow. This is a tightly plotted mystery with great characters. Not your typical read, buy it you will like it!
