Summary: Kept me up until I finished it, halfway through the night.
Review: Annette Gisby "gets it right," in spades, as she leads her readers through the convoluted functioning of a family devoted to keeping the truth under wraps - at any cost. I found the ending, with its typically Gisby ironic twist, an especially realistic touch. It is not a comfortable read, because of the horrific subject matter; but it is a compelling one.

My only negative comment (and I'm not sure "negative" is the right word for it) must be that most real-life women in Jessica's position don't come out on the other side as she does, because most never realize what surviving at all proves about their inner strength. To say more would be to spoil prospective readers...and that's the last thing I want to do.

It's a keeper!

Summary: Scary Psychological Thriller
Review: Annette Gisby did a fantastic job with Silent Screams. I highly recommend this engaging page turner. Jessica, the main character, must suffer not only as a victim of molestation, but as a victim of narrow minded people and family members who'd rather not know the truth. Annette Gisby makes us care about Jessica, and her fate. I read Silent Screams in eBook format, and I looking forward to buying a hard copy once it is re-released through Barclay.

Summary: Grabs you by the throat from the very first page!
Review: Annette Gisby has created a masterful thriller with her novel, SILENT SCREAMS. It grabs you by the throat from the very first page and does not let you go until the last page is turned.

Jessica is a troubled young girl whose life is full of secrets, dark secrets that she can’t tell. She believes she would be better off dead than living in the hell in which she finds herself. She slashes her wrists. ‘Someone was calling her, calling her back from the darkness, the emptiness. The voice was faint but getting stronger. She struggled to open her eyes, but they rebelled against the bright lights. Was this heaven, then?’

HE is stalking her. HE says she has been a naughty girl; naughty girls have to be punished. ‘Footsteps. Footsteps on the stairs. She heard the last stair creaking. Any minute now. She jumped from the bed and dived underneath it. It was useless to hide, she knew HE would find her. As her bedroom door opened, she held her breath and peaked out. First she saw the shiny black shoes and the bottoms of black trousers. She had always wondered about the black. She had always assumed that the devil would wear red.’

If only Jessica could tell the secrets. But who would believe her? ‘She tried to scream, but no sound escaped from her locked throat. Her screams, as always, were silent.’

SILENT SCREAMS is Annette Gisby’s first full-length novel but I am sure it won’t be her last. If you like thrillers, then this is one you don’t want to miss. It is powerful. Reviewed by Kristie Leigh Maguire, author of Desert Triangle.

Summary: Frayed writing, needs polish
Review: I found this book to be the perfect example of a book whose time has not yet come. Perhaps the had no other recourse than to go to a "VANITY" publisher. It needs editing, for the plot is convoluted and entangled in non-linear ways. The characters are soft and hollow. There is no "fire" here. It reads as if the writer merely typed it. A headless torso, says this observer. No sale.

Summary: A book of secrets.
Review: Jessica was a young lady who appeared to be living a normal life, but she had secrets.

There was no way she could tell her abusive mother; the mother had her own secrets.

Jessica didn't dare tell her best friend, Denise, because she was in love with Denise's older brother, Matt. She had a crush on Matt when she was younger, and he was the only person of the opposite sex with whom she felt comfortable.

At the age of eighteen, feeling hopeless and helpless, Jessica tried to take her own life, and that opened the door for all the secrets to come to light. Annette Gisby is an author who delves deep into the heart of the character.

I could not put the book down. Every time I got to a stopping place and thought things were working out, another secret would be revealed. SILENT SCREAMS is one book that should be read by anyone who has ever suffered mental abuse or molestation.

Summary: A great mystery!
Review: No blood! No murders! Silent Screams is a great mystery.

A girl named Jessica is raped and becomes pregnant. The disbelieving mother claims her daughter is a whore. Jessica knows who the father is, but believes no one would believe her if she told. This is when things really get rolling which includes everything from a nervous breakdown to attempted suicides.

The storyline of Silent Screams seems to fit right into today's headlines, and could probably be more non-fiction then we think. Even though it took a while for the story to get into the 'interest zone' for me, I think Ms. Gisby did a wonderful job in her execution of characters and bringing the plot together.

Summary: A chilling tale
Review: Silent Screams had me on the edge of my seat. I even swear I shadows in the room with me as I read this riviting fictional tale. The author, Ms Grisby, has the uncanny ability to sweep you into the dark world of mystery and suspence. But then again, I have read the new version that is now been picked up by a traditional publisher who is giving it the attention that it deserves. If you are into shivers up your spine and the suspence that follows, I would most definitely recommend this book above all other horror thrillers.
